DELIGHT in Jesus: burn with love for Him.

  • Jesus asked Peter,Do you love Me?” (John 21:15,16,17)
REFLECT on Jesus’ progressive questions: Do you burn with (agape) love for Me more than these? Do you burn with (agape) love for Me? or Do you (just) have (philo) great affection for Me? At the time the Great Apostle Peter could only admit to philoWas Peter saddened by the repeated invitation to agape or by his lack of it? (John 21:17)
  • Jesus asks us, At the end of these 40 Days – how deeply do you DELIGHT in Me?
Do you love Me as One you sacrificially surrender your life to? or Do you love Me as a brother?
  • Jesus asks us, Do you love me more than these?  Will you keep pursuing progressive intimacy with Me? Jesus’ command to “Feed My male lambs, Feed My sheep, Feed My female lambs” emphasises that our love for Him will be evidenced by our action: taking care of the people in His flock. This is our DESTINY. Peter lived his life ‘believing in him, exulting with unutterable joy filled with glory.’ (1 Peter 1:8) Will you? (Willard 1998 p322, TPT Notes: John 21:15-16)

DELIGHT in your DESTINY. “For the grace of God that offers salvation… teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.” (Titus 11-14) His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:3-11)

DELIGHT in your Beloved forever! “The chief end of man is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever.” (Crowder 2009 p15) We anticipate “…the day He comes to be glorified in His holy people and to be marvelled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.” (2 Thessalonians 1:10) “And they shall live with His face in view, and that they belong to Him will show on their faces. God the Lord will be radiant in their midst. And they will reign through the ages of ages.” (Revelation 22:4-5)

DESTINY BLESSING: We bless our Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God! May His purposes and likeness be manifest on earth – bringing glory to the Father and heaven to earth (Psalm 103-104, Nehemiah 9:4-6).

WEEK 6: Delight In Jesus – Christ in you. You in Christ.
DESTINY QUESTION: Lord, who is Australia deep down?
Listen to what God reveals about the hidden parts of your nation. Discuss the spiritual formation of your nation’s identity in Christ. Share your insights via Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/40DaysofDelight or www.40daysofdelight.com.au

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 20:1-31 The Passion Translation. “They were overjoyed to see the Lord with their own eyes.” (John 20:20)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in seeing Jesus with your own eyes. In his resurrection Jesus showed that personal existence is not dependent upon matter. Instead matter depends on Him! Death is merely release from the physical limitation and powers of our physical bodies. “The most exalted outcome of submersion in the risen Christ is the transformation of the inner self to be like Him!” (Willard 1998 p307) Hill (2014) proposes “that our inheritance invariably lies beyond the chasm of our own prejudices. It could be that your sweet spot, your deep fulfilment, is with the very people that you have a judgement about. Life will flow when that prejudice is removed.”

REFLECT on the false limitations and prejudices that hold back your transformation and that of your nation.

DELIGHT in Jesus and His kingdom come to restore all things in utter fullness.  As you contemplate your nation fulfilling its DESTINY, consider a community of people inhabited by God. There is a hugely significant future ahead. God purposes that a community of ordinary human beings will pervade the entire created realm and share in the government of it. Every event takes on its full reality and meaning, when it is seen, not only in the context of the visible world, but also in the context of God’s full world, the substantial reality of the spirit and the spirit world. (Willard 1998 p100) “Only in the light of such a creation and such a redeemed community is it possible for God to be known in his deepest nature.” (Willard 1998 p421) Visualise “peace as wholeness, as fullness of function, as the restful but unending creativity involved in a cosmos-wide, co-operative pursuit of a created order that continuously approaches but never reaches the limitless and greatness of the triune personality of God, its source.” (Willard 1998 p436) “The most amazing thing we can imagine in human existence is the unending fellowship of endlessly loving people. We yearn to love and be loved, to know and be known, to enjoy and be enjoyed in creative adventurous discovery. (1 John 4:11-16) “No greater meaning can be found to human existence than what God has appointed for those who know and love Him and His ways with their entire being. This is the church’s greatest opportunity – to model, demonstrate, and manifest the fruits of such a life as both a witness and a beneficiary of God’s overflowing goodness and agape love.” (Willard 2004 p305)

DECIDE your response to what Jesus says in John 20:21-23: “Just as the Father sent me, I’m now sending you. Receive the Holy Spirit. I send you to preach the forgiveness of sins to the people of your nation and beyond.

DESTINY BLESSING: We bless our Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God! May His purposes and likeness be manifest on earth – bringing glory to the Father and heaven to earth (Psalm 103-104, Nehemiah 9:4-6).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in Jesus and invite Him to transform your nation’s DESTINY.
Father, You made every nation and determined the time and exact places where they should live so men would seek You and reach out and find You. I pray the people of our nation can face Your judgement (Acts 17:24-33).
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Lord, draw my friends into the unending fellowship of endless love in You and in the life of your Church.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Lord, show us the ways our nation denies that Jesus is the Son of God so we can bear true witness that we have seen You! (John 20:25) Lord, lead our nation to repentance. Breathe Your Holy Spirit on Your disciples so we fulfil our prophetic DESTINY as a South Land of the Holy Spirit and a missionary sending nation (Acts 2:17-21).

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 19:28-42 The Passion Translation. “It is finished, my bride.” (John 19:30)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in Jesus’ fulfillment of His DESTINY. (John 19:36) In saying “It is finished” Jesus referred back to the fulfillment of these prophecies. Throughout His life on earth, Jesus quotes the Hebrew Scriptures that he had memorised as a boy, to show how His life fulfilled the prophecies foretelling who the Messiah would be. (See some of these at: http://100prophecies.org/page2.htm). Jesus wanted us all to have no doubt about who He was.

REFLECT on John’s revelation of Jesus’ relationship with His Father throughout John’s gospel. The records of the eye witnesses capture discrete perspectives of what Jesus said from the cross. John includes Jesus saying that He’s thirsty but not the phrase, ‘Eli, Eli lema sabachthani?’ My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:45-54) There is a compelling account that Jesus was not saying He felt forsaken by His Father but was simply reciting Psalm 22 to help us understand His death as the fulfillment of what had been prophesied. The passage concludes with assurances that God has not scorned the afflicted one – and the victory cry claimed by Jesus! It is done!

Psalm 22:1,15,22-31 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?” My mouth is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death.” “I will declare your name to my people; in the assembly I will praise you. You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honour him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel! For he has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help. From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly; before those who fear you I will fulfill my vows. The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD will praise him—may your hearts live forever! All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations. All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him— those who cannot keep themselves alive. Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord. They will proclaim his righteousness, declaring to a people yet unborn: He has done it!

DELIGHT in the promise that your God will never leave or forsake you. At least 11 times in Scripture, God has promised He will never forsake us. (Deuteronomy 31:6,8; Joshua 1:5;  Hebrews 13:5) He is a covenant keeping God. (Leviticus 26:9Deuteronomy 7:9; Nehemiah 1:5)

REFLECT: Do you trust the gift of Jesus’ death for you  – and that your Father will never leave or forsake you? Don’t let anything separate you from delighting in the wonder of the love of God! (Romans 8:35-39)

DELIGHT in being the Bride of Christ. (John 19:30) The TPT Notes indicate that when Jesus declared, “It is finished, My bride!” He was not only looking back to the fulfillment of prophecy but forward to the fulfillment to come. Jesus has completed His preparations for the Bride. Now it is up to us to prepare to meet Him as His Bride. (Isaiah 61:10, 62:3-5; Matthew 25:1-13, Luke 12:35-38, Revelation 19:6-9)!

REFLECT: Can you anticipate Jesus’ joy at being united with His bride? We have the power to bring this joy to Him!

DESTINY BLESSING: We bless our Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God! May His purposes and likeness be manifest on earth – bringing glory to the Father and heaven to earth (Psalm 103-104, Nehemiah 9:4-6).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in Jesus and invite Him to transform us as His church.
Beloved Bridegroom, we rejoice and give You glory! Put on us, Your Bride, the clean garment- the righteous acts of the saints. Intimacy with You fills our lamps as we wait to kiss You when You return. (Song of Songs 1:2-4)
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Jesus, equip our friends to be counted among the redeemed! Lord, have mercy on and draw them to Yourself!
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Lord, we turn our hearts to pray today for the young and unborn ones – the future generations (Malachi 4:5,6). May we, as friends of the Bridegroom (Matthew 9:15), continue the preparation of the Bride and welcome You as our Bridegroom! Come in Your glory, Lord, and say to us, “Come, you who are blessed by My Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.” (Matthew 25:31-40)

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 19:17-27 The Passion Translation. When Jesus looked down and saw the disciple He loved standing with her, He said, “Mother, look – John will be a son to you.” (John 19:26-27)

DELIGHT in Jesus as your King! Identify with His suffering for you.

DELIGHT in the truth: Jesus is the King of the Jews! Pilates’ words remain true to this day (John 19:19-22).

DELIGHT in the blessings of God to Abraham and the Gentiles through Christ! ‘Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.’ (Galatians 3:13-14)

DELIGHT in Jesus’ tenderness toward His mother while hanging on the cross. John, our author, records this personal moment (John 19:25-27). Jesus’ compassion was extended to each one of us from the cross. “His love pours into the precise place where [our] pain is.” (Hill 2014) “Let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them; that those who love Your name may rejoice in You. Surely, LORD, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favour as with a shield.” (Psalm 5:11-12)

How can we adequately express our gratitude for what Jesus did for us? Through DELIGHT! Jesus deserves our highest form of worship! ‘Astonished reverence’ is A.W. Tozer’s description of worship, ‘admiration to the point of wonder and DELIGHT.’ (Willard 2002 p77) “The real focus of Tozer’s daily life centred on the worship of God. Nothing else so occupied his mind and life. It became the one great passion of his life.” “His supreme desire was to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ as simply as possible.” “He maintained a continuous sense of God that enveloped him in reverence and adoration. His one daily exercise was the practice of the presence of God, pursuing him with all his time and energy. To him, Jesus Christ was a daily wonder, a reoccurring astonishment, a continual amazement of love and grace.” (Tozer 2008 p7,14,15) “When God made the human souls in His own image, He did it so that we might act according to that divine nature. He never intended the virus of sin to infect the sacred place within us. Sin therefore is unnatural. Because of this condition in humanity sin is natural and worship is unnatural and so few people really do it.” “God accepts worship only when it is pure and when it flows from a heart under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.” (Tozer 2008 p56) “To worship in a way that God can accept means submitting to the truth about God, admitting who God says He is and admitting that Christ is who and what He says He is.”(Tozer 2008, p55,59)

DESTINY BLESSING: We bless our Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God! May His purposes and likeness be manifest on earth – bringing glory to the Father and heaven to earth (Psalm 103-104, Nehemiah 9:4-6).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in Jesus and invite Him to transform your life.
Yeshua, I behold You. In the midst of excruciating torture on the cross, You took care of Your mother and each of us. My soul sings, How Great Thou Art! You are worthy of my trust and daily adoration for eternity. I love You…
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Lord, I bring before You the friends I am praying for on each of these 40 days. May they find a new life in You, Jesus. Lord, open opportunity for me to invite them to encounter You in the life of my Church.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Lord God Jehovah, we remember that the people of Israel are Your chosen people and You do not break Your covenants (Exodus 33:13). You are the Messiah, King of the Jews! We pray for them to receive you as Saviour! We thank You Lord that we, as Gentiles, have been grafted in. (Romans 11) We declare You Saviour King of every people group, language and cultural group in the earth!

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 18:28-19:16 The Passion Translation. “Your King.” (John 18:39)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in Jesus’ worthiness to be the Lamb of God. Adore Him! What love the Father has for us that He would send His Son to die for us (John 3:16).  Jesus “stands for love as no-one else has ever done, and pays the price for it. His crucifixion is the greatest mark of love on earth.” (Willard 2002 p99) “When we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” (Romans 5:6)

Behold the Lamb of God who died for you! In today’s reading we face the brutal torture, ridicule and condemnation of our Beloved and receive Him as our King. Wonder at His dignity, confidence and authority. Jesus knew who He was. While lambs were being slaughtered in the temple on Passover Day, Jesus, our Passover Lamb took our sins. (TPT Notes John 19:14)

REFLECT on Isaiah 53:1-12Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away… For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

DELIGHT in living and dying for Christ. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20) Jesus said, “Anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:26) We are not disciples of Jesus until we have surrendered our lives to the point of death. This means death to self – every part of us. For many disciples, it literally means martyrdom. “We offer the parts of [our] body in slavery …. to righteousness leading to holiness.” (Romans 6:19)

DESTINY BLESSING: We bless our Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God! May His purposes and likeness be manifest on earth – bringing glory to the Father and heaven to earth (Psalm 103-104, Nehemiah 9:4-6).

(Click here to open the Audio Blessing in a new window).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in Jesus and invite Him to transform your life.
Lord, my heart sings, “Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!” (Psalm 103:1) “Take my life and let it be consecrated Lord to Thee.” Fulfil in us the mystery of Christ in us… so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in us. (Colossians 1:27-29)
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Father, I pray my family, friends, neighbours and colleagues will receive Jesus’ sacrifice – so with their sins forgiven they can live holy consecrated lives – on earth and in heaven.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Father, pour your Holy Spirit on Australia to convict us of our sins and the redemption from sin, offered to all. “From sin and dust to Thee we cry, The Great, the Holy and the High.” (Isaac Watts, 1674-1748)

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 18:1-27 The Passion Translation. “Who are you looking for?” (John 18:4)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in Finding the One you are looking for: “Who are you looking for?” (John 18:4,7-8) This was Jesus’ question to those who came to arrest him and it’s His question to the hidden parts of your heart.

DISCERN: How do you respond to Jesus’ question? “Who are you looking for?  Identifying the aspect of God that you need can be a powerful way to build prayerful trust and intimacy. Do you seek comfort, mercy, kindness, gentleness, strength, forgiveness, righteousness, justice, holiness, a defender? Jesus says, “I AM the one you’re looking for.” (John 18:8) Jesus came to heal the broken hearted. (Luke 4:18) He is looking for every part of your heart to be healed and His. “The eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9)

In today’s reading Jesus knowingly faces arrest and interrogation. We see who Jesus is under pressure. Under pressure Peter reacted violently and cut off Malchus’ ear! (TPT Notes John 18:10)

DISCERN: When you are squeezed is Christ’s likeness evident in you? Who you are under pressure is an outward expression of your choices, decisions and habitual behaviour – who you are in the hidden parts of your heart. Do you revert to anger, depression, sexual gratification, vanity, egotism, hostility, fear, indifference, offence, meanness, retaliation, condemnation? Others are looking for Christ in you.

DELIGHT in the relief that goodness comes from union with God! Striving to be good increases our pressure! But as we rest in Jesus, the fruitfulness of God’s Spirit becomes natural and time finds us more often pure, humble, unselfish, naturally loving, industrious, responsible, self-controlled, patient, able to defer gratification; deny our own opinions, preferences, tastes and will; and resist the opinion, persuasion, approval, censure or blame of others. (Willard 2002 p56) “The transformation of the inner being is as much or more a gift or grace, as is our justification before God. Of course neither one is wholly passive.” Our identification with Christ obliterates our other identities, not by negation, but by the new and positive reality of Christ in us (Colossians 3:1-15). (Willard 2002 p31-32). “Because of your partnership in the gospel… [be] confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:5-7)  “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.” (Proverbs 3:5-8)

Tell Jesus what’s on your heart: e.g. Who are you looking for? Who are you under pressure? “Come be the fire inside of me, come be the flame upon my heart. Come be the fire inside of me, until You and I are one.” (Song of Songs 8:6) (Mason 2012 p153)
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Precious Jesus, enable my friends to choose and trust Your goodness to restore and sustain them.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Gracious Father, we pray for all those in need and under pressure – that we, the church and all in community support roles would provide rapid, wholistic, life giving care with wisdom, kindness, gentleness, integrity and grace. We uphold Jesus as the one our nation is looking for. Restore Your kingdom justice through us, Lord!

Eternal life means to know and experience You as the only true God and to know and experience Jesus Christ as the Son whom You have sent.” (John 17:3) We ‘fasten’ and ‘carry’ His Word in our hearts. (John17:6,8)  Letting God be God offends human pride but the first command is that we have no other gods before Him (Exodus 20:3). Deep in our soul we need to acknowledge we are not God and quit playing God. Reliance on ourselves – our sonship, self-esteem, self-centredness and self-love breeds self-deception, frustration, slavery and denial of what is wrong in us. (Willard 2002 p11) “So blindly do we all rush in the direction of self-love that everyone thinks he has a good reason for exalting himself and despising all others in comparison.” Calvin said, “the surest source of destruction to men is to obey themselves.” Even when “Christians talk of their ‘brokenness” they are talking about their wounds, the things they have suffered, not of the evil that is in them.” “Without realization of our utter ruin and without the genuine redirecting of our lives, which that bitter realization gives rise to, no clear path to inner transformation can be found.” (Willard 2002 p16)

DISCERN: Is your heart focused on the unveiled Christ or self-centred earthly things? (Philippians 3:19)?

DELIGHT in the astonishing life Jesus gives you!
Jesus prayed we would be joined together as one …and become one with the Father and Son (John17:21). This is the grace of constant, close interaction with God! (Willard 2002 p8)

Jesus enables you to:

  • bring the Father glory on earth, by completing the work He gave you to do (John 17:4)
  • receive God’s Words and carry them in your heart (John 17:6-8)
  • reveal God’s’ glory through your surrendered life (John 17:10)
  • represent Him and live a fully dedicated life (John 17:18-19)
  • experience perfect unity with God so the world will know Jesus by our love! (John 17:23)
  • reign with Him at God’s side! (John 17:24)

Stand up and praise the LORD your God, who is from everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be Your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise. You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.” (Nehemiah 9:5-7)

Tell Jesus the things about Him that deeply DELIGHT you! “I have the joy, joy, joy, joy….down in my heart!
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Father, I pray with Jesus, that my friends will see that You love each one of them with the same endless love that You have for Jesus and that Your love will live in them. (John 18:26)
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
“Dear Father always near us, may Your name be treasured and loved, may Your rule be completed in us – may Your will be done here on earth in just the way it is done in heaven. Give us today the things we need today, and forgive us our sins and impositions on You as we are forgiving all who in any way offend us. Please don’t put us through trials, but deliver us from everything bad. Because You are the one in charge, and You have all the power, and all the glory too is all Yours – forever – which is just the way we want it!” (Willard 1998 p296)

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 16:12-33 The Passion Translation. “I have conquered the world!” (John 16:33)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

This week Jesus prepares us to face His death. We face His challenge to die to self.

DELIGHT in the Holy Spirit and His fresh revelations of truth to the hidden parts of your heart. There is so much more I would like to say to you, but it’s more than you can grasp at this moment. But when the truth-giving Spirit comes, He will unveil the reality of truth within you.” (John 16:12b-13b) “If you embrace the truth, it will release more freedom into your lives.” (John 8:32) Many of us are not in tune with our hearts.

ASK the Holy Spirit to reveal “the evil in you and enable you to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” (2 Timothy 2:22)

“Every revelation of sin in the heart of the believer is always accompanied by a revelation of the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus and the unveiling of the heart of Christ in us.” (Mason 2012 p96) “What our life amounts to is largely, if not entirely, a matter of what we become within. This is the domain of spiritual formation and transformation.” (Willard 2002 p2) “When we accept that we cannot possibly improve ourselves, we can relax and rest and allow ourselves to be transformed by the only change agent that can make us like Jesus – the Holy Spirit pouring out the love of God within our hearts.”(Hill 2014)
You have searched me, LORD, and you know me. You perceive my thoughts from afar. Before a word is on my tongue you, LORD, know it completely. Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:1-4,23-24)

DELIGHT in your direct access to your Father through the Spirit. (John 16:25). “But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:16-18)

DELIGHT in asking for anything you desire and keep on asking – knowing He will give you what you desire (John 16:23-24). It is easier to ask a deep question or favour of those we are close to. Our level of intimacy, dependency and trust in our Father determines how free we are to ask for His perspective and intervention.

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in Jesus and invite Him to transform your life.
Holy One, put Your desires in me so when you give me what I desire, I am in perfect fulfilment of your will. Let the peace in You be in me and give me great confidence as I rest in You in this world (John 16:32-33).
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Lord, give divine connections for the friends I have been praying for, so in Your leading I and others can bless them, listen to them, speak into their lives and lead them to follow Jesus.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Father, in Jesus’ name we bless the people of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, to embrace our prophetic identity as the South Land of the Holy Spirit so we will rise to fulfill our DESTINY as a place of reconciliation, honour and unity. We pray the apostles, prophets, shepherds, teachers and evangelists, intercessors and leaders of the church will work with the Holy Spirit to equip us all to fulfill Your will and bring You glory!

WEEK 5: Delight In Jesus And His Kingdom’s Dominion In Your Domain
DESTINY QUESTION: Lord, Who are Australia’s people?
Discern what God says to you. Journal what you hear and how this helps define your nation’s DESTINY. Share your insights via Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/40DaysofDelight or www.40daysofdelight.com.au

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 15:1-16:11 The Passion Translation. “Step into life union with Me.” (John 15:4)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in being united with Jesus for life – as His covenant people (John 15:4, Acts 3:25, 1 Corinthians 11:25).

REST in Jesus’ cleansing (John 15:3)! Be intimately joined to the living One so your life will be fruitful.

DELIGHT in being Jesus’ intimate friends who love as He has loved us – bearing fruit in our lives and domains. “As you live in union with Me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you, but when you live separate from Me you are powerless. But if you step into My life in union with Me and if My words live powerfully within you – then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done. When your lives bear abundant fruit, you demonstrate that you are My mature disciples who glorify My Father.” (John 15:5-8)

DELIGHT grows in us as we trust our Lord and his power to fulfil the DESTINY of our nation! (Isaiah 60)

DELIGHT in drinking droplets of soul-exhilarating joy from our joy-filled, abundantly loving and generous God! It is His will that your joy is full! “My purpose for telling you these things is so that the joy that I experience will fill your hearts with overflowing gladness!” (John 15:11) “The same one is Lord of all, abounding in riches to all who call upon him.” (Romans 10:12) “When we have a genuine knowledge of God, praise is the only appropriate attitude in which to live.” “Thanksgiving goes hand in hand with praise. We are thankful when we know we are living under the provisions of his bountiful hand.” (Hebrews 11:6, Philippians 4:6) (Willard 1998 p267-8)

RESEARCH & DISCERN: Australia’s people. Know God’s purpose in bringing your nation’s first people and immigrant people to this land (Acts 17:26-28). Be acquainted with the needs and profound gifts of Indigenous Australians and their critical role in defining and fulfilling our DESTINY. Honour and support Indigenous Christian leaders. Research Sources: http://partnersinprayer.org.au/vision/restorative-justice/

DESTINY BLESSING: We align with our Father’s blessing on the land and the first people groups of the Great South Lands of the Holy Spirit – Australia, New Zealand and Pacific nations. We bless the immigrant people who help build our nation. We declare together, “Australia will know her national identity and fulfil her DESTINY as a nation blessed under the sovereignty of God (Psalm 115)!”

(Click here to open the Audio Blessing in a new window).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in Jesus and invite His kingdom into your nation.
Beloved Jesus, I long for Your love to nourish the hearts of those in my sphere of influence with the same love that the Father loves You (John 15:9). Thanks for all You have forgiven me for – the completeness of Your love and acceptance and reconciliation available to all. Thanks for Your sufficiency when I am hated (John 16:19). I forgive and bless my enemies and those who despitefully use me, that Your hope filled love might flow through me at all times. You alone are my source. My life is intimately joined to You!
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Today, Lord, I pray my listed friends will step into union with You and with a branch of Your Church where they can grow and become equipped as a mature disciple – a sent one who will reach out to others!
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Father, we pray for those who are persecuted for their faith in Jesus in our nation and the nations of the world. We pray for Indigenous Australians, all Australians and all our neighbours who are unjustly treated and whose needs cry out to You. Pour out Your Divine Encourager, our Holy Spirit, on Australia to nurture all into faith, love, abiding and fruitfulness that the world might know us as Jesus’ disciples by our love for one another.

WEEK 5: Delight In Jesus And His Kingdom’s Dominion In Your Domain
DESTINY QUESTION: Lord, Who are my people?
By this we mean: Who are the people group God calls you to minister to and journey with? Your people may be from a particular locality, ethnicity, age group, cultural style or share formative experiences or purpose. Your key life scriptures, and prophetic words spoken by others, may help you discern God’s answers to your DESTINY Questions. Seek God’s revelation of your DESTINY beyond these 40 days until you have one sentence answers to all the questions.
Discern what God says to you. Journal what you hear and how this helps define your DESTINY journey.

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 14:21-31 The Passion Translation. “We will come to you and make you our dwelling place.” (John 14:23)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT passionately in Jesus and you will be empowered to obey His commands and His Father! Jesus said, “Those who truly love Me are those who obey My commandments. Whoever passionately loves Me will be passionately loved by My Father And I will passionately love you in return and will manifest My life within you. Loving Me empowers you to obey My word. And My Father will love you so deeply that We will come to you and make our dwelling place in you.” (John 14:21,23) Jesus’ DESTINY was fulfilled because of His obedience. “I am doing exactly what the Father has destined for Me to accomplish, so that the world will discover how much I love My Father. Now come with Me.” (John 14:31)

DELIGHT in Godly Leaders.Leaders who represent and maintain a wonderfully rich and robust example of integrity of character in fulfilling their duties, exemplify and testify to the truth and goodness of God in a way that promotes, establishes and maintains shalom for the benefit of all.” (Willard 2014 p32) We need to pray for bless, equip, inspire and encourage leaders who are dedicated to working with Jesus in furthering the kingdom within the key institutions and structures of our society (1Timothy 2:1-4). Pray we see the local church move “from simply advocating understanding of or professing belief in the availability of life in the kingdom to demonstrating and manifesting a broader expression of what the gospel can accomplish when brought directly to bear on the weighty matters of our social realities. These matters are crucial and eternal, for they deal with the eternal souls of those individuals within our families, our neighbours, our society, and finally the world at large.”(Willard 2014 p31)

DISCERN: Who are the mentors and role models God has given you to guide your vision, mission, values, conduct, character and communication and support you toward fulfilling your DESTINY? (Willard 2014 p36)

DISCERN: Who are the people in your domain you are destined to ‘father’ – to disciple and encourage?

DESTINY BLESSING: Our Father built regular patterns of blessing into Jewish life because He wants us to enjoy His favour. Receive God’s blessing and let His blessings flow through you to the people near you – bringing kingdom life to your people group and domain (Deuteronomy 28:1-14; 30:19-20).

(Click here to open the Audio Blessing in a new window).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in Jesus and invite His kingdom into your domain.
Lord God, Almighty, enable me express my love for You by fulfilling exactly what I am destined to do in this world. It doesn’t matter how small or big my part is; how long term or short term; how hidden or public – I want to be available to You. Keep me vigilantly alert to Your will so I live in passionate love and obedience.
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Jesus, Yahweh Shalom, I pray today that my friends and those in my sphere of influence you will know the DELIGHT of the gift of the perfect peace that Your indwelling leaves with us (John 14:27)! Replace fear and anxiety with courage as they learn to rely on and rest in Your love.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Father, the world needs to discover Jesus and know You as their Father; and the comfort and truthfulness of the Holy Spirit. I pray for leaders in all aspects of our society and for us as the church – to arise together to implement Your life giving kingdom reign in our communities, transforming us and fulfilling our nation’s prophetic DESTINY.

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 14:1-20 The Passion Translation. “Jesus, the Way” (John 14:6)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

You may like to list the promises from this passage that DELIGHT you!

SEEK first His Kingdom dominion – His righteousness – in your own heart. (Matthew 6:33).

DISCERN: Am I more focussed on the place Jesus has prepared in heaven than letting Him reign in my heart?

Jesus’ kingdom dominion must first reign in us! “Humanity does not possess the answers to its own problems. The failure to recognise and understand this simple truth is the genesis of the encompassing search by social, political, and religious structures and institutions to forge paradise on earth.” “The problem – our problem – lies in the shadows of the human heart. Unless and until the human heart absorbs the sovereign goodness of God, the flourishing of our societies will remain elusive, and the very means used to attain prosperity will end up only hastening our demise.” (Willard 2014 p42,33) “If a person does not have God, they have to have something else. If they do not enjoy worshipping God Almighty, they find something else to worship.” “Human beings who have lost the mystery of God in their hearts, look for that mystery elsewhere.” “Idolatry is simply worship directed in any direction but towards God.”(Tozer 2008 p44,58,82)

DELIGHT in Jesus’ relationship with His Father. Jesus could say, “Anyone who has looked at me has seen the Father. Don’t you believe that the Father is living in me and that I am living in the Father? Even My words are not My own but come from My Father, for He lives in Me and perform His miracles through Me.” (John 14:6-11)

DELIGHT yourself in the Father who lives in us (John 14:10-11)! “You will know Him intimately, because He will make His home in you and will live inside you.” (John 14:17) “God is in us. Yahweh, the Almighty, Everlasting God, the I AM – that God – is inside us.” (Sheets 2014 p229)

DELIGHT in Jesus in you! (Ephesians 3:7, Colossians 1:27) Jesus, the way, truth and life, who “offers Himself as God’s doorway into the life that is truly life” (John 14:6). (Willard 1998 p19) Jesus said, “Those who rely on me shall do the works I do, and even greater ones.” (John 14:12) “How tremendous is the power available to us who believe in God.” (Ephesians 1:19-20)

DELIGHT in the intimate indwelling of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-17, 26, Romans 8:11).The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.” (2 Corinthians 13:14) Fellowship [koinonia] means communion, sharing together, participation in or with, distribution, impart, partake, partnership, companionship. (Sheets 2014 p233) God’s desire for us is that we should live in Him. In its deepest meaning our universe is a community of boundless and totally competent love.” (Willard 1998 p18)

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in Jesus and invite His kingdom into your domain.
Jesus, I am available to have You live in me! I long to abide and rest and live in You, Father. I seek to fulfil the purpose for which I was created – fellowship with You! I DELIGHT in Your humility to dwell amongst us! Make me a worthy vessel of Your inhabitation. Unite us in agreement by Your Spirit, so You may dwell in our midst.
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Ask the Lord to prompt you to recognise people in your sphere of influence who are lonely. Pray for them and be sensitive to the promptings of the Lord to invite them into your home, church or small group fellowship.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Father, we pray for Your continuing outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our nation to fulfil our prophetic DESTINY. May we overflow the blessings of Your grace and reconciliation to the nations. All ethnic groups must taste and see the eternal quality and quantity of life that is available through Jesus Christ!

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 13:18-38 The Passion Translation. “Love one another as much as I have loved you.” (John 13:34)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in the grace you’re given to love each other as Jesus loves.  Jesus said, “So I give you now a new commandment: Love each other just as much as I have loved you. For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another, everyone will know that you’re My true followers.” (John 13:34) Jesus defines “the good person as the person who is appropriately concerned about and committed to the well-being of the others (Mark 12:31, John 13:34-35).” (Willard 2014 p99) “Love – agape – is goodwill in action. To love something or someone is to act or be poised to act for the good of that thing or person.” (Willard 2014 p117)

DELIGHT in how compassionately Jesus deals with us.Peter the rock said, “What do you mean I’m not able to follow You now?”’ (John 13:37) Jesus says, “I have requested concerning you, that your faith might not die. And when you have straightened up, uphold your brothers.” (Luke 22:32)

DISCERN: Do you demonstrate the love of a true follower in how you love others? “The lack of human unity in intelligent love under God not only leaves us at the mercy of manmade disasters, such as wars, famine and oppression, but also prevents our dealing successfully with many so-called natural evils such as disease, scarcity and weather related disasters.” (Willard 1998 p38)

DELIGHT in being Jesus’ revolutionaries! Jesus sends us as His trainees to perpetuate world revolution until God’s will is done on earth as it is in heaven. This revolution does not commence by addressing social institutions and laws – the outer forms of life. Rather Jesus’ revolution is of character – changing people from the inside and through personal relationship with God and others. It is a revolution that changes ideas, beliefs, feelings, habits of choice, bodily actions and social relations. It is first a deep revolution of the soul. In its current public form Christianity has not been imparting effective answers to the vital questions of human existence. Our mission is to bring the presence of the kingdom and its king into every corner of human life by simply living in the kingdom of Jesus. (Willard 2002 p20-21)

DISCERN your people: Name the people in your life who inspire you to follow Jesus and live fully for Him.

Jesus, I repent of how far I fall short of Your glory and how many times I have failed to speak up for You. It breaks my heart that You would see me as ‘the disciple whom You dearly love and show mercy to.’ You are my Beloved and there is none like You! Enable me to demonstrate the same love You have for me so everyone will they know I am a true follower of Christ.
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Lord, may love compel my friends – and all in my sphere of influence – to see You as You are and be drawn to You. Lord, I confess that nothing less will overturn the despised image of the church. Inhabit and transform us.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Jesus, we depend on Your Kingdom dominion to reform Earth to be as it is in heaven. Unite us in intelligent love under Your Lordship that righteousness, justice, order and peace may reign. I pray for all the light carriers in our region and across the world. Holy Spirit, consume us and burn brilliantly through us!

Discern what God says to you. Journal what you hear and how this helps define your DESTINY journey.

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 13:1-17 The Passion Translation. “Now do for each other what I have done for you.” (John 13:15)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in Jesus’ tender love for his disciples and for us.All throughout His time with His disciples, Jesus had demonstrated a deep and tender love for them. And now He longed to show them the full measure of His love.” (John 13:2 ) “The Lord is bursting with compassion and full of pity.” (James 5:11)

DELIGHT in loving the people around you. “We are to follow Christ under the imperative of God’s character, to love our neighbours as ourselves [and] pursue what honours God and what is good for the public in the economic, political, professional and social issues that impact life and living.” (Willard 2014 p307) “…You should follow the example that I’ve set for you… Now do for each other what I have just done for you. Put into practice what I have done for you, and you will experience a life enriched with untold blessings!” (John 13:14, 17) “Our confidence in God is the only thing that makes it possible to treat others as they should be treated.” (Willard 1998 p258) “I must release the other person from every attempt of mine to regulate, coerce and dominate him with my love. Spiritual love will speak to Christ about a brother more than to a brother about Christ. Spiritual love knows the most direct way to others is always through prayer to Christ and that love of others is wholly dependent upon the truth in Christ. “ (Willard 1998 p261)

DISCERN:

  • Who are the people you are called to humbly serve?
  • In what ways can you follow Jesus’ example in how you serve them (John 13:14-17)?
  • Who are the people who will help you grow fruit in your sphere of influence?

PICTURE God’s love for the people in your workplace, school, university etc. “Discipleship is for the world that God so loved. If we shrink discipleship down to church work, we will never see its power to transform ourselves or to transform the world around us.” “We need to put them [converts] onto the living kingdom of God and the living Christ and allow them to live interactively, one on one, with God and to transform the world in which we live.” (Willard 2014b p21-22) “The simple program of Christ for winning the whole world is to make each person He touches magnetic enough with love to draw others.” (Frank Laubach 1990 p154)

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in Jesus and invite His kingdom into your domain.
Father, we pray for leaders in our nation, region and immediate domain – our family, workplace, school etc. Sustain and bless our leaders that we might live peaceful lives. May they demonstrate love through purity, integrity, humility and service as Jesus does, and may I also in all I do (1 John 4:10-16).
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Lord Jesus, prepare my heart to demonstrate deep and tender love in action – the equivalent of washing my friends’ feet. May I be quick to serve without seeking reward. I pray for conviction in their spirit, mind, will, emotions and body that they are loved by You and need to receive You into the lives.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Lord Jesus, Son of God, lead us to recognise the specific ways we are to love our neighbour and pursue together what honours You; and what is good for the public in the economic, political, professional and social aspects of our community so we see Your transformation of our region.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 12:20-50 The Passion Translation. “Now is the time for the Son of Man to be glorified.” (John 12:23)

DELIGHT in the Kingdom of God: the “divine conspiracy of God to overcome the human kingdoms of this world – at both the individual and the corporate or governmental level – with love, justice and knowledge of truth.” (Willard 2014 p307)

WONDER at how Jesus surrendered His life to God’s purpose.Even though I am torn within and My soul is in turmoil, I will not ask the Father to rescue Me from this hour of trial. For I have come to fulfil My purpose – to offer Myself to God. So Father, bringing glory to Your name!” (John 12:27)

PAUSE to express your response.

DELIGHT in offering yourself to God for His purpose. “A saint or hero is one who to a significant degree chooses to forgo or risk forgoing the enjoyment of goods or even necessities, perhaps life itself, for the sake of advancing the good of others.” (Willard 2014 p79)  Jesus said, “The person who loves his life and pampers himself will miss true life! But the one who detaches his life from this world and abandons himself to Me will find true life and enjoy it forever! If you want to be My disciple, follow Me and you will go where I am going. And if you truly follow Me as My disciple, the Father will shower His favour upon your life.” (John 12:25-26)

DELIGHT in the wonder of God’s favour upon your life – the blessings you receive daily! Believe for the resources needed by the people group in the sphere to which God assigns you!

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in Jesus and invite His kingdom into your domain.
Lord, everything was done so we can come. Everything is possible because You have won our hearts! I come to You to offer Myself to You again in this new day, that by Your grace and Your power I may fulfil my purpose for being among the people group to whom You have assigned me. Lord help me faithfully fulfil my DESTINY on earth to bring glory to You and for Your kingdom to come.
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Father, I pray for my listed friends that they might become true followers of Jesus who detach from this world and abandon themselves to Jesus – to go where He goes (John 12:25-26).
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Jesus, Your light has come to our dark world and we no longer wander in darkness! I declare this in Your name (John 12:44-49)! Lord, we thank You and pray protection for the people of light who are prayer walking and ministering in our neighbourhoods, regions and nations – so hope dawns in our world and we see evil rulers of this world overthrown. We want to see Satan fall from the heavens over our regions as Your kingdom is established through local houses of peace – Houses of Prayer- everywhere (Luke 10:18).

Discern what God says to you. Journal what you hear and how this helps define your DESTINY journey.

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 12:1-19 The Passion Translation. “Lord, be our Saviour!” (John 12:13)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in worshipping Jesus as the Saviour, the King of Israel. (John 12:13). “They took palm branches and went out to meet Him. Everyone was shouting, “Lord, be our Saviour! Blessed is the one who comes to us sent from Jehovah-God, the king of Israel!…great numbers of people welcomed Him into the city with joy.” (John 12:13,18) We fulfil our Lord’s commands and align with His heart and blessing when we honour the DESTINY of God’s chosen people and pray for and bless Israel. (Genesis 12:1-3; Psalm 122:6; Numbers 6:23-27). Please pray for  honour and protection of Israel; for godly leadership of Israel; and that God’s people receive Jesus as their Messiah, Yeshua Ha- Mashiach.

DELIGHT in welcoming Jesus’ Kingdom into your sphere of influence. Be one of the people who exuberantly welcome Jesus into your region! In Genesis 1 God assigned us to collective rule over all living things on earth. “We are made to have dominion within an appropriate domain of reality. Our ‘kingdom’ is simply the range of our effective will.” “The deepest longings of our heart confirm our original calling. Our core being still assigns us to ‘rule’ our life circumstances, whatever they be.” (Willard 1998 p29-31) “Come, you who are under my Father’s blessing and take over the government assigned to you from the beginning.” (Matthew 25:34)  ‘Cultures’ are ways that people live based on group consensus and blind assumptions that are understood without explanation or justification; and that structure their lives into patterns. Predominant cultures in our nation (e.g. ‘life-style’; consumerism, ‘politically-correctness’) have turned consensus into laws that directly deny Biblical principles; reduce the value of vulnerable life, justice and mercy; and seek to legitimise killing, stealing and destruction. Kingdom culture is life giving. It’s based on principles specified by God that naturally sustain abundant life across generations and intrinsically tie us in relationship to our neighbours, our communities, and by extension our global community. (Willard 2014 p32) Be intentional about cultivating the kingdom rule of God in the places where you spend your life – so eternal and abundant life flourishes in your home, local shops, playground, workplace, school etc (John 10:10).

DISCERN: Who are the specific people or people groups in your domain who need kingdom culture?

DECLARE: Jesus, I welcome your reign as Sovereign Lord in my family, neighbourhood and the culture around us!

Pause to DELIGHT in tenderly loving Jesus, as Mary did (John 12:1-8).
Lord,  I love You with my whole heart! You are worthy of my best, my wholehearted adoration and devotion, my most personal sacrifice! Rule and reign in every part of me Sovereign Jesus!
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Jesus, I pray  my friends will find your “miracle testimony incontrovertible” in their lives and believe in You! I pray they encounter You and Your supernatural power to restore their lives to the full!
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Father, I pray Jesus will be worshipped across my region as our Lord, Saviour, God and King! We pray that the patterns of evil accepted in our culture are replaced by the life giving principles of the kingdom of heaven. We welcome Your kingdom dominion to bring victory over death and restore wholeness, completeness – peace!

WEEK 4: Delight In Declaring What Your Father Is Saying
DESTINY QUESTION: Lord, What is Australia’s Message?
Discuss what you hear and how this helps define your nation’s DESTINY. Share your insights via Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/40DaysofDelight or www.40daysofdelight.com.au

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 11:1-57 The Passion Translation. “Where did you bury him? Then tears streamed down Jesus’ face.” (John 11:34-35)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in declaring the Good News message: “Lord, I believe you are the Son of God who has come into the world for us.” (John 11:27)

DELIGHT in Jesus’ empathy, trustworthiness and power in all the challenges of your life!
He saw death as “another opportunity to see who I am, so you will learn to trust in Me.” (John 11:15) Jesus’ resurrection of his beloved friend Lazarus is a glorious turning point for these witnesses – and for us all because Jesus said, “anyone who clings to Me in faith, even though he dies, will live forever.” (John 11:25)

REFLECT on the proportion of your fellow Australians who do not yet have a personal relationship with God.

Jesus said “If you believe you will see God unveil His power…” (John 11:40)

ASK YOURSELF:

  • Do you believe in Christ’s unveiled power available to us in Australia in this generation?
  • Do you believe Jesus’ power can be unveiled through you?

DELIGHT in the powerful truth that Your Father has positioned Australia as His messenger to the world! God has commissioned us to be messengers of reconciliation. Read 2 Corinthians 5:11-21.

RESEARCH & DISCERN: Australia’s message. Seek God’s revelation of your nation’s message to the world. Explore prophetic words about your nation www.australianpropheticcouncil.com.au. Share key prophetic words with us.

DESTINY BLESSING: Jesus has made us priests in His kingdom (1 Peter 2:5,9; Revelation 1:5-6). We are equipped to overflow God’s blessing to others (Deuteronomy 10:8; Numbers 6:22-27).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in your Father and declare your life message.
Father, like Jesus we gaze into heaven and pour upon You our thanksgiving. Almighty, Omnipotent and gracious God we adore You! In You we live and move and have our being. We are Your offspring, Father.
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Jesus, my Lord and Saviour, I continue to pray for my listed friends who have not received You and are facing eternal death. I also have on my heart many other family members, friends and colleagues. Lord, have mercy on their souls! Usher them into new life in You and to their DESTINY in the family of God. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Father, the DESTINY of our nation hangs in the balance. I hear the cries of grief from those who will hesitate and miss their window of opportunity to respond to you as the Beloved. (Song of Songs 5:6) Send your Spirit to convict us of our need for repentance and sustained fervent intimacy with You. Raise and equip us as your Church to carry the gospel truth that Jesus has died – so that the people of our nation do not need to perish! All are invited to the marriage feast of the Lamb but so few enter! We cry out Lord for our land, environment, laws, our systems, our mindsets, our will to be resurrected to life in Jesus. (2 Chronicles 7:14). May Australia be given audience to speak words of life to the nations – words that are triumphant over death. (Acts 17:28)!

Later, Jesus appeared once again to a group of his disciples by the Sea of Galilee.
It happened one day while Peter, Thomas (the Twin), Nathanael (from
Cana in Galilee), James, John, and two other disciples were all together. Peter
told them, “I’m going fishing.” And they all replied, “We’ll go with you.” So they
went out and fished through the night, but caught nothing.

Then at dawn, Jesus was standing there on the shore, but the disciples
didn’t realize that it was him! He called out to them, saying, “Hey guys! Did
you catch any fish?

“Not a thing,” they replied.

Jesus shouted to them, “Throw your net over the starboard side, and
you’ll catch some!” And so they did as he said, and they caught so many fish
they couldn’t even pull in the net!

Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s the Lord!” When
Peter heard him say that, he quickly wrapped his outer garment around him,
and because he was athletic, he dove right into the lake to go to Jesus! The
other disciples then brought the boat to shore, dragging their catch of fish.

They weren’t far from land, only about a hundred meters. And when they got
to shore, they noticed a charcoal fire with some roasted fish and bread. Then
Jesus said, “Bring some of the fish you just caught.”

So Peter waded into the water and helped pull the net to shore. It was full
of many large fish, exactly one hundred and fifty-three, but even with so many
fish, the net was not torn.

Come, let’s have some breakfast,” Jesus said to them.

And not one of the disciples needed to ask who it was, because every one
of them knew it was the Lord. Then Jesus came close to them and served
them the bread and the fish. This was the third time Jesus manifested to his
disciples after his resurrection.

After they had breakfast, Jesus said to Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you burn with love for me more than these?

Peter answered, “Yes, Lord! You know that I have great affection for you!”

Then take care of my lambs,” Jesus said. Jesus repeated his question the second time, “Simon, son of John, do you burn with love for me?

Peter answered, “Yes, my Lord! You know that I have great affection for
you!”

Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said.

Then Jesus asked him again, “Peter, son of John, do you have great affection
for me?

Peter was saddened by being asked the third time and said, “My Lord, you
know everything. You know that I burn with love for you!”

Jesus replied, “Then feed my lambs! Peter, listen, when you were younger
you made your own choices and you went where you pleased. But one day
when you are old, others will tie you up and escort you where you would not
choose to go—and you will spread out your arms.” (Jesus said this to Peter as
a prophecy of what kind of death he would die, for the glory of God.) And then
he said, “Peter, follow me!

Then Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following
them. (This was the disciple who sat close to Jesus at the Last Supper
and had asked him, “Lord, who is the one that will betray you?”) So when
Peter saw him, he asked Jesus, “What’s going to happen to him?”

Jesus replied, “If I decide to let him live until I return, what concern is
that of yours? You must still keep on following me!

So the rumor started to circulate among the believers that this disciple
wasn’t going to die. But Jesus never said that, he only said, “If I let him live until
I return, what concern is that of yours?

I, John, am that disciple who has written these things to testify of the truth,
and we know that what I’ve documented is accurate. Jesus did countless
things that I haven’t included here. And if every one of his works were written
down and described one by one, I suppose that the world itself wouldn’t have
enough room to contain the books that would have to be written!

Very early Sunday morning, before sunrise, Mary Magdalene made her way
to the tomb. And when she arrived she discovered that the stone that sealed
the entrance to the tomb was moved away! So she went running as fast as she
could to go tell Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved. She told them,
“They’ve taken the Lord’s body from the tomb, and I don’t where he is!”

Then Peter and the other disciple jumped up and ran to the tomb to go
see for themselves. They started out together, but the other disciple outran
Peter and reached the tomb first. He didn’t enter the tomb, but peeked in, and
saw only the linen cloths lying there. Then Peter came behind him and went
right into the tomb. He too noticed the linen cloths lying there, but the burial
cloth that had been on Jesus’ head had been rolled up and placed separate
from the other cloths.

Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first went in, and after
one look, he believed! For until then they hadn’t understood the Scriptures
that prophesied that he was destined to rise from the dead. Puzzled, Peter
and the other disciple then left and went back to their homes.

Mary arrived back at the tomb, broken and sobbing. She stooped to peer inside, and through her tears she saw two angels in dazzling white robes, sitting where Jesus’ body had been laid- one at the head and one at the feet!

“Dear woman, why are you crying?” they asked.

Mary answered, “They have taken away my Lord, and I don’t know where
they’ve laid him.”

Then she turned around to leave, and there was Jesus standing in front of
her, but she didn’t realize that it was him!

He said to her, “Dear woman, why are you crying? Who are you looking
for?

Mary answered, thinking it was only the gardener, “Sir, if you have taken his
body somewhere else, tell me, and I will go and . . .”

Mary,” Jesus interrupted her.

Turning to face him, she said, “Rabboni!” (Aramaic for ’my teacher’)

Jesus cautioned her, “Mary, don’t hold on to me now, for I haven’t yet
ascended to God, my Father. And he’s not only my Father and God, but now
he’s your Father and your God! Now go to my brothers and tell them what
I’ve told you, that I am ascending to my Father – and your Father, to my God –
and your God!

Then Mary Magdalene left to inform the disciples of her encounter with
Jesus. “I have seen the Lord!” she told them. And she gave them his message.

That evening, the disciples gathered together. And because they were afraid
of reprisals from the Jewish leaders, they had locked the doors to the place
where they met. But suddenly Jesus appeared among them and said, “Peace
to you!” Then he showed them the wounds of his hands and his side – they
were overjoyed to see the Lord with their own eyes! Jesus repeated his greeting,
Peace to you!” And he told them, “Just as the Father has sent me, I’m
now sending you.” Then, taking a deep breath, he blew on them and said,
Receive the Holy Spirit. I send you to preach the forgiveness of
sins—and people’s sins will be forgiven. But if you don’t
proclaim the forgiveness of their sins, they will remain guilty.”

One of the twelve wasn’t present when Jesus appeared to them—it was
Thomas, whose nickname was “the Twin.” So the disciples informed him,
“We have seen the Lord with our own eyes!”

Still unconvinced, Thomas replied, “There’s no way I’m going to believe this
unless I personally see the wounds of the nails in his hands, touch them with
my finger, and put my hand into the wound of his side where he was pierced!”

Then eight days later, Thomas and all the others were in the house
together. And even though all the doors were locked, Jesus suddenly manifested
before them! “Peace to you,” he said.

Then, looking into Thomas’ eyes, he said, “Put your finger here in the
wounds of my hands. Here—put your hand into my wounded side and see for
yourself. Thomas, don’t give in to your doubts any longer, just believe!

Then the words spilled out of his heart—“You are my Lord, and you are
my God!”

Jesus responded, “Thomas, now that you’ve seen me, you believe. But there are those who have never seen me with their eyes but have believed in me with their hearts, and they will be blessed even more!

Jesus went on to do many more miraculous signs in the presence of his
disciples, which are not even included in this book. But all that is recorded
here is so that you will fully believe that Jesus is the Anointed One, the Son of
God, and that through your faith in him you will experience eternal life by the
power of his name!

Jesus knew that his mission was accomplished, and to fulfill the Scripture, Jesus said: “I am thirsty.”

A jar of sour wine was sitting nearby, so they soaked a sponge with it and put it on the stalk of hyssop and raised it to his lips. When he had sipped the sour wine, he said, “It is finished, my bride!” Then he bowed his head and surrendered his spirit to God.

The Jewish leaders did not want the bodies of the victims to remain on the cross through the next day, since it was the day of preparation for a very important Sabbath. So they asked Pilate’s permission to have the victims’ legs broken to hasten their death and their bodies taken down before sunset. So the soldiers broke the legs of the two men who were nailed there.

But when they came to Jesus, they realized that he had already died, so they decided not to break his legs. But one of the soldiers took a spear and pierced Jesus’ side, and blood and water gushed out.

(I, John, do testify to the certainty of what took place, and I write the truth so that you might also believe.) For all these things happened to fulfill the prophecies of the Scriptures:

“Not one of his bones will be broken,”
and, “They will gaze on the one they have pierced!”

After this, Joseph from the city of Ramah, who was a secret disciple of Jesus for fear of the Jewish authorities, asked Pilate if he could remove the body of Jesus. So Pilate granted him permission to remove the body from the cross.

Now Nicodemus, who had once come to Jesus privately at night, accompanied Joseph, and together they carried a significant amount of myrrh and aloes to the cross. Then they took Jesus’ body and wrapped it in strips of linen with the embalming spices according to the Jewish burial customs. Near the place where Jesus was crucified was a garden, and in the garden there was a new tomb where no one had yet been laid to rest. And because the Sabbath was approaching, and the tomb was nearby, that’s where they laid the body of Jesus.

WEEK 4: Delight In Declaring What Your Father Is Saying
DESTINY QUESTION: Lord, What is my Life Message?
Knowing your testimony will enable you to carry the gospel of Jesus in how you live and in what you say. Your key life scriptures, and prophetic words spoken by others, may help you discern God’s answers to your DESTINY Questions. Seek God’s revelation of your DESTINY beyond these 40 days until you have one sentence answers to all the questions.
Journal what you hear and how this helps define your DESTINY journey.

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 10:1-42 The Passion Translation. “The sheep recognise the voice of the True Shepherd.” (John 10:3b)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in recognising Jesus’ Voice. (John 10:3,14,16,27)

DELIGHT in your prayer life becoming an intimate dialogue with your Beloved. Hear Jesus call you by name! Jesus said, “The sheep recognise the voice of the True Shepherd because he calls His own by name. My own sheep will hear My voice and I know each one, and they will follow Me.” (John 10:3, 27) We are to pause to listen; to recognise His voice and follow His constant guidance (Isaiah 30:21). “Always we are simply children walking and talking with our Father.” (Willard 1998 p266) “All who are interactive with the spirit of God are God’s children.” (Romans 8:14)

DELIGHT, like love, trust and joy, is not just an emotion. It’s a choice to linger in God’s presence to worship and communicate intimately with Him.You will call on me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13) “I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.” (Proverbs 8:17) “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10) “One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.” (Psalm 27:4)

DELIGHT in God activates your intention and capacity to worship with:

  1. Boundless confidence in the character of God and respect for the One who holds the universe.
  2. Admiration – love stemming from gratitude and the love of utter infinite excellence.
  3. Fascination – being excited, captured and entranced by the presence and person of God; and filled with astonished wonder at the inconceivable elevation and the magnitude and the splendour of God.
  4. Adoration – white hot love made incandescent with fire of the Holy Spirit, loving God with all the powers within us – with fear, wonder, yearning and awe. ( Tozer 2008 p116-120)

DELIGHT in your DESTINY. In today’s reading Jesus speaks about “the DESTINY My Father has set before Me” (John 10:18) and says, “I have been uniquely chosen by God and sent to you as His messenger” (John 10:34). We too can surrender our lives to the DESTINY our Father has set before us and be sent as His messenger. What God is inviting you to do will be the greatest opportunity you will ever have! “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

SHARE with those you care about how much you value the DESTINY your Father has for them.

DESTINY BLESSING: Jesus has made us priests in His kingdom (1 Peter 2:5,9; Revelation 1:5-6). We are equipped to overflow God’s blessing to others (Deuteronomy 10:8; Numbers 6:22-27).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in Jesus and declare your life message.
Speak frankly with your Lord about hearing His voice. If you do not discern God’s still small voice, ask Jesus to tune you to distinguish His inner voice from your own and other chatter. Ask Him today and every day, “Lord, what would you say to me?” “What would you have me say?” “…to whom, when, where?”
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Pray for your friends to hear the still small voice of God.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Lord, as I go through my normal day, speak with me about what You see and what You would have me say and do, so I pray and live in agreement with Your will and see Your kingdom can come to those around me.

Jesus carried his own cross out of the city to the place called “The Skull,” which in Aramaic is Golgotha. And there they nailed him to the cross. He was crucified, along with two others, one on each side with Jesus in the middle.

Pilate had them post a sign over the cross, which was written in three languages—
Aramaic, Latin, and Greek. Many of the people of Jerusalem read the
sign, for he was crucified near the city. The sign stated: “Jesus of Nazareth, the
King of the Jews.”

But the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “You must change the sign!
Don’t let it say, ‘King of the Jews,’ but rather—‘he claimed to be the King of the
Jews!’” Pilate responded, “What I have written will remain!”

Now when the soldiers crucified Jesus, they divided up his clothes into
four shares, one for each of them. But his tunic was seamless, woven from the
top to the bottom as a single garment. So the soldiers said to each other,
“Don’t tear it—let’s throw dice to see who gets it!”

The soldiers did all of this not knowing they fulfilled the Scripture that says, “They divided my garments among them and gambled for my garment.”

Mary, Jesus’ mother, was standing next to his cross, along with Mary’s sister,
Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. So when Jesus looked down
and saw the disciple he loved standing with her, he said, “Mother, look—John
will be a son to you.” Then he said, “John, look—she will be a mother to you!
From that day on, John accepted Mary into his home as one of his own family.

Before dawn they took Jesus from his trial before Caiaphas to the Roman
governor’s palace. Now the Jews refused to go into the Roman governor’s residence
to avoid ceremonial defilement before eating the Passover meal. So
Pilate came outside where they waited and asked them pointedly, “Tell me, what
exactly is the accusation that you bring against this man? What has he done?”

They answered, “We wouldn’t be coming here to hand over this ‘criminal’
to you if he wasn’t guilty of some wrongdoing!”

Pilate said, “Very well, then you take him yourselves and go pass judgment
on him according to your Jewish laws!”

But the Jewish leaders complained and said, “We don’t have legal authority
to put anyone to death. You should have him crucified!” (This was to fulfill
the words of Jesus when he predicted the manner of death that he would die.)

Upon hearing this, Pilate went back inside his palace and summoned Jesus.
Looking him over, Pilate asked him, “Are you really the King of the Jews?”

Jesus replied, “Are you asking because you really want to know, or are
you only asking this because others have said it about me?

Pilate responded, “Only a Jew would care about this; do I look like a Jew?
It’s your own people and your religious leaders that have handed you over to
me. So tell me, Jesus, what have you done wrong?”

Jesus looked at Pilate and said, “The royal power of my kingdom doesn’t
come from this world. If it did, then my followers would be fighting to the end
to defend me from the Jewish leaders. My kingdom authority is not from this
realm.

Then Pilate responded, “Oh, so then you are a king?”

You are right.” Jesus said, “I was born a King, and I have come into this
world to prove what truth really is. And everyone who loves the truth will
receive my words.

Pilate looked at Jesus and said, “What is truth?”

As silence filled the room, Pilate went back out to where the Jewish leaders
were waiting and said to them, “He’s not guilty. I couldn’t even find one fault
with him. Now, you do know that we have a custom that I release one prisoner
every year at Passover—shall I release your king—the King of the Jews?”

They shouted out over and over, “No, not him! Give us Barabbas!” (Now
Barabbas was a robber and a troublemaker.)

Then Pilate ordered Jesus to be brutally beaten with a whip of leather straps
embedded with metal. And the soldiers also wove thorn-branches into a
crown and set it on his head and placed a purple robe over his shoulders.

Then, one by one, they came in front of him to mock him by saying, “Hail, to
the King of the Jews!” And one after the other, they repeatedly punched him
in the face.

Once more Pilate went out and said to the Jewish officials, “I will bring
him out once more so that you know that I’ve found nothing wrong with him.”

So when Jesus emerged, bleeding, wearing the purple robe and the crown of
thorns on his head, Pilate said to them, “Look at him! Here is your man!”

No sooner did the high priests and the temple guards see Jesus that they
all shouted in a frenzy, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”

Pilate replied, “You take him then and nail him to a cross yourselves! I told
you—he’s not guilty! I find no reason to condemn him.”

The Jewish leaders shouted back, “But we have the Law! And according to
our Law, he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God!”

Then Pilate was greatly alarmed when he heard that Jesus claimed to be the Son of God! So he took Jesus back inside and said to him, “Where have you come from?” But once again, silence filled the room. Perplexed, Pilate said, “Are you going to play deaf? Don’t you know that I have the power to grant you your freedom or nail you to a tree?”

Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me at all, unless it was
given to you from above. This is why the one who betrayed me is guilty of an
even greater sin.

From then on Pilate tried to find a way out of the situation and to set
him free, but the Jewish authorities shouted him down: “If you let this man go,
you’re no friend of Caesar! Anyone who declares himself a king is an enemy of
the emperor!”

So when Pilate heard this threat, he relented and had Jesus, who was torn
and bleeding, brought outside. Then he went up the elevated stone platform
and took his seat on the judgment bench—which in Aramaic is called Gabbatha,
or “The Pavement.” And it was now almost noon. And it was the same day
they were preparing to slay the Passover lambs.

Then Pilate said to the Jewish officials, “Look! Here is your king!”

But they screamed out, “Take him away! Take him away and crucify him!”

Pilate replied, “Shall I nail your king to a cross?”

The high priests answered, “We have no other king but Caesar!”

Then Pilate handed Jesus over to them. So the soldiers seized him and
took him away to be crucified.

After Jesus finished this prayer; he left with his disciples and went across the
Kidron Valley to a place where there was a garden. Judas, the traitor, knew
where this place was, for Jesus had gone there often with his disciples. The “Separated Ones” and the leading priests had given Judas a large detachment of Roman soldiers and temple police to seize Jesus. Judas guided them to the
garden, all of them carrying torches and lanterns and armed with swords and
spears. Jesus, knowing full well what was about to happen, went out to the
garden entrance to meet them. Stepping forward, he asked, “Who are you
looking for?

“Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. (Now Judas, the traitor, was among them.)

He replied, “I Am he.”

And the moment Jesus spoke the words, “I Am he.” the mob fell backward
to the ground!

So once more, Jesus asked them, “Who are you looking for?”As they stood up, they answered, “Jesus of Nazareth.”

Jesus replied, “I told you that I Am the one you’re looking for, so if you
want me, let these men go home.”

He said this to fulfill the prophecy he had spoken, “Father, not one of
those you have given me has been lost.

Suddenly, Peter took out his sword and struck the high priest’s servant,
slashing off his right ear! The servant’s name was Malchus.

Jesus ordered Peter, “Put your sword away! Do you really think I will
avoid the suffering which my Father has assigned to me?

Then the soldiers and their captain, along with the Jewish officers, seized
Jesus and tied him up. They took him first to Annas, as he was the father-in-law
of Caiaphas, the high priest that year. Caiaphas was the one who had
persuaded the Jewish leaders that it would be better off to have one person die
for the sake of the people.

Peter and another disciple followed along behind them as they took Jesus
into the courtyard of Annas’ palace. Since the other disciple was well known to
the high priest, he entered in, but Peter was left standing outside by the gate. Then the other disciple came back out to the servant girl who was guarding the gate and convinced her to allow Peter inside. As he passed inside, the young servant girl guarding the gate took a look at Peter and said to him, “Aren’t you one of his disciples?”

He denied it, saying, “No! I’m not!”

Now because it was cold, the soldiers and guards made a charcoal fire
and were standing around it to keep warm. So Peter, who was also called the
Rock, huddled there with them around the fire.

The high priest interrogated Jesus concerning his disciples and his teachings.
Jesus answered Annas’ questions by saying, “I have said nothing in
secret. At all times I have taught openly and publicly in a synagogue, in the
temple courts, and wherever the people assemble. Why would you ask me
for evidence to condemn me? Ask those who have heard what I’ve taught.
They can tell you.

Just then one of the guards standing near Jesus punched him in the face
with his fist and said, “How dare you answer the high priest like that!”

Jesus replied, “If my words are evil, then prove it. But if I haven’t broken
any laws, then why would you hit me?

Then Annas sent Jesus, still tied up, across the way to the high priest
Caiaphas.

Meanwhile, Peter was still standing in the courtyard by the fire. And one of the
guards standing there said to him, “Aren’t you one of his disciples? I know you are!” Peter swore and said, “I am not his disciple!” But one of the servants of the high priest, a relative to the man whose ear Peter had cut off, looked at him and said, “Wait! Didn’t I see you out there in the garden with Jesus?” Then Peter the Rock denied it the third time and said, “No!”—and at that very same moment, a rooster crowed nearby.

This is what Jesus prayed as he looked up into heaven,

Father, the time has come.
Unveil the glorious splendor of your Son,
So that I will magnify your glory!
You have already given me authority
Over all people so that I may give
The gift of eternal life
To all those that you have given to me.
Eternal life means to know and experience you
As the only true God,
And to know and experience Jesus Christ,
As the Son whom you have sent.
I have shown the world your glory
By faithfully doing everything you’ve told me to do.
So my Father, restore me back to the glory
Which we shared together when we were face to face
Before the universe was created.

Father, I have manifested who you really are
And I have revealed you to the men and women
That you gave to me.
They were yours,
And you gave them to me,
And they have fastened your Word
Firmly to their hearts.
And now at last they know that everything I have
Is a gift from you,
And the very words you gave to me to speak
I have passed on to them.
They have received your words
And carry them in their hearts.
They are convinced
That I have come from your presence,
And they have fully believed
That you sent me to represent you.

So with deep love, I pray for my disciples.
I’m not asking on behalf of the unbelieving world,
But for those who belong to you,
Those you have given me.
For all who belong to me
Now belong to you.
And all who belong to you
Now belong to me as well,
And my glory is revealed
Through their surrendered lives.

Holy Father,
I am about to leave this world
To return and be with you,
But my disciples will remain here,
So I ask, that by the power of your name—
Protect each one that you have given me,
And watch over them
So that they will be united as one,
Even as we are one.
While I was with these that you have given me,
I have kept them safe
By the power of your name.
Not one of them is lost,
Except the one that was destined to be lost,
So that the Scripture would be fulfilled.

But now I am returning to you
So Father, I pray that they will
Experience and enter into
My joyous delight in you
So that it is fulfilled in them and overflows.
I have placed your Word within them
And that is why the unbelieving world hates them.
For their allegiance is no longer to this world,
Because I am not of this world.
I am not asking that you remove them from the world
But I ask that you guard their hearts from evil,
For they no longer belong to this world
Any more than I do.

Your Word is truth!
So make them holy by the truth.
I have commissioned them to represent me
Just as you commissioned me to represent you.
And now I dedicate myself to them
As a holy sacrifice
So that they will live as fully dedicated to God,
And be made holy by your truth.

And I ask not only for these disciples,
But also for all those who will one day
Believe in me through their message.
I pray for them all to be joined together as one
Even as you and I, Father,
Are joined together as one,
I pray for them to become one with us
So that the world will recognize that you sent me.
For the very glory you have given to me
I have given them,
So that they will be joined together as one
And experience the same unity that we enjoy.
You live fully in me
And now I live fully in them
So that they will experience perfect unity,
And the world will be convinced
That you have sent me,
For they will see that you love each one of them
With the same passionate love
That you have for me.

Father, I ask that you allow everyone
That you have given to me,
To reign at our side,
For I want them to be where I am!
Then they will see my full glory—
The very splendor you have placed upon me,
Because you have loved me
Even before the beginning of time.

You are my righteous Father,
But the unbelieving world has never known you
In the perfect way that I know you!
And all those who believe in me
Also know that you have sent me!
I have revealed to them who you are
And I will continue to make you even more real to them,
So that they may experience the same endless love
That you have for me,
For your love will now live in them,
Even as I live in them!

I am like a sprouting vine, and the farmer who tends the vine is my Father. He cares for the branches connected to me by lifting and propping up the branches that are fruitless and pruning every fruitful branch to yield a greater harvest. The words I have spoken over you have already cleansed you. So enter into life-union with me, for I have entered into life-union with you. For as a branch severed from the vine will not bear fruit, so your life will be fruitless unless you live your life intimately joined to mine.

I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. As you live in union
with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when
you live separated from me you are powerless. If you live separated from
me, you will be discarded like shriveled-up branches that are gathered up and
thrown into the fire to be burned. But if you step into my life in union with me
and if my words live powerfully within you—then you can ask whatever you
desire and it will be done. When your lives bear abundant fruit, you demonstrate that you are my mature disciples who glorify my Father!

I love each of you with the same love that the Father loves me. Let my love nourish your hearts. If you keep my commands, you will live in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands, for I am nourished and empowered by his love. My purpose for telling you these things is so that the joy that I experience will fill your hearts with overflowing gladness!

So this is my command: Love each other deeply, as much as I have
loved you. For the greatest love of all is a love that sacrifices all. And this
great love is demonstrated when a person sacrifices his life for his friends.

You show that you are my intimate friends when you obey all that I
command you. I have never called you ‘servants,’ because a master doesn’t
confide in his servants, and servants don’t always understand what the master
is doing. But I call you my most intimate friends, for I reveal to you everything
that I’ve heard from my Father. You didn’t choose me, but I’ve chosen and
commissioned you to go into the world to bear fruit. And your fruit will last,
because whatever you ask of my Father, for my sake, he will give it to you! So
this is my parting command: Love one another deeply!

Just remember, when the unbelieving world hates you, they first hated me.
If you were to give your allegiance to the world, they would love and welcome
you as one of their own. But because you won’t align yourself with the values of
this world, they will hate you. I have chosen you and taken you out of the world
to be mine. So remember what I taught you, that a servant isn’t superior to his master. And since they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. And if they obey my teachings, they will also obey yours. They will treat you this way
because you are mine, and they don’t know the One who sent me.

If I had not come and revealed myself to the unbelieving world, they
would not feel the guilt of their sin, but now their sin is left uncovered. If
anyone hates me, they hate my Father also. If I had not performed miracles
in their presence like no one else has done, they would not feel the guilt of
their sins. But now, they have seen and hated both me and my Father. And all
of this has happened to fulfill what is written in their Scriptures:
They hated me for no reason.

And I will send you the Divine Encourager from the very presence of
my Father. He will come to you, the Spirit of Truth, emanating from the Father, and he will speak to you about me. And you will tell everyone the truth about me, for you have walked with me from the start.”

I have told you this so that you would not surrender to confusion or doubt.
For you will be excommunicated from the synagogues, and a time is coming
when you will be put to death by misguided ones who will presume to be
doing God a great service by putting you to death. And they will do these
things because they don’t know anything about the Father or me. I’m telling
you this now so that when their time comes you will remember that I foretold
it. I didn’t tell you this in the beginning because I was still with you. But now
that I’m about to leave you and go back to join the One who sent me, you
need to be told. Yet, not one of you are asking me where I’m going. Instead
your hearts are filled with sadness because I’ve told you these things. But
here’s the truth: it’s to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away the
Divine Encourager will not be released to you. But after I depart, I will send
him to you. And when he comes, he will expose sin and prove that the world
is wrong about God’s righteousness and his judgments.

‘Sin,’ because they refuse to believe in who I am.

God’s ‘righteousness,’ because I’m going back to join the Father and
you’ll see me no longer.

And ‘judgment’ because the ruler of this dark world has already
received his sentence.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 9:1-41 The Passion Translation. “Do you believe in the Son of God?” (John 9:35)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in believing who Jesus is! This is a tender story! ‘The people asked [the man Jesus had healed], “Who is this man?” “Who do you say He is (John 9:12,17)?” The man who had been blind gradually becomes clearer in his testimony to who Jesus is (John 9:3,17,35)!

ASK yourself:

  • Do you notice those in need in the public places around you?
  • Have you been subject to condemnation for something you didn’t do?
  • Is your testimony to who Jesus is becoming clearer?

DELIGHT in how Christ opens our minds and transforms our perspective!
What occupies our mind very largely governs what we do. Some have minds blinded with unbelief and are unable to see the light of the gospel and the glory of Christ, who is the image of God (2 Corinthians 4:3-4). We need a rich and accurate way of thinking and speaking about God in order to trust him, and to guide and support our life vision and our will. (Willard 1998 p74)

DELIGHT in sharing what’s happened since you met Jesus. DECLARE who Jesus is to you! Jesus said, “Do you believe in the Son of God?” (John 9:35)

  • Tell Jesus what you believe about Him.
  • Tell others who you say Jesus is. Tell them what Jesus has done for you.
  • Have you seen the miraculous healing power of God? Tell others what you have seen.
  • Be prepared to pray for the people you meet in public places. Have faith that Jesus will heal them.
  • Phone a friend and share your DELIGHT in who Jesus is to you.

DESTINY BLESSING: Jesus has made us priests in His kingdom (1 Peter 2:5,9; Revelation 1:5-6). We are equipped to overflow God’s blessing to others (Deuteronomy 10:8; Numbers 6:22-27).

(Click here to open the Audio Blessing in a new window).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in Jesus and declare your life message.
Pour out your thanksgiving to Jesus – telling Him all the things you are grateful for.
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Pray your friends will encounter Jesus’ loving kindness and be drawn to believe that His presence and power is still available to them today. Share your story of His goodness to you. Prayerfully discern the right time to invite your friends to encounter Jesus through the life of your Church.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Lord Jesus, as I walked down the street, open my eyes to those who need to be set free from condemnation, sickness and disability. May I trust You enough to pray for friends and strangers to be healed! Thank you that I can be Your witness to those I meet – on the street and online. Link me with others in my area (workplace, school etc) so we can pray and stand together. Lord, bless the churches in our region to usher in Your kingdom.

There is so much more I would like to say to you, but it’s more than you can grasp at this moment. But when the truth-giving Spirit comes, he will unveil the reality of every truth within you. He won’t speak his own message, but only what he hears from the Father, and he will reveal prophetically to you what is to come. He will glorify me on the earth, for he will receive from me what is mine and reveal it to you. Everything that belongs to the Father belongs to me—that’s why I say that the Divine Encourager will receive what is mine and reveal it to you. Soon you won’t see me any longer, but then, after a little while, you will see me in a new way.”

Some of the disciples asked each other, “What does he mean, ‘Soon you
won’t see me,’ and, ‘A little while after that and you will see me in a new way’?
And what does he mean, ‘Because I’m going to my Father’?” So they kept on
repeating, “What’s the meaning of ‘a little while’? We have no clue what he’s
talking about!”

Jesus knew what they were thinking, and it was obvious that they were anxious to ask him what he had meant, so he spoke up and said, “Let me make it quite clear: you will weep and be overcome with grief over what happens to me. The unbelieving world will be happy, while you will be filled with sorrow. But know this, your sadness will turn into joy when you see me again! Just like a woman giving birth experiences intense labor pains in delivering her baby, yet after the child is born she quickly forgets what she went through because of the overwhelming joy of knowing that a new baby has been born into the world.

So will you also pass through a time of intense sorrow when I am taken
from you, but you will see me again! And then your hearts will burst with joy,
with no one being able to take it from you! For here is eternal truth: When
that time comes you won’t need to ask me for anything, but instead you will
go directly to the Father and ask him for anything you desire and he will give
it to you, because of your relationship with me. Until now you’ve not been
bold enough to ask the Father for a single thing in my name, but now you can
ask, and keep on asking him! And you can be sure that you’ll receive what you
ask for, and your joy will have no limits!

I have spoken to you using figurative language, but the time is coming when I will no longer teach you with veiled speech, but I will teach you about the Father with your eyes unveiled. And I will not need to ask the Father on your
behalf, for you’ll ask him directly because of your new relationship with me. For the Father tenderly loves you, because you love me and believe that I’ve come from God. I came to you sent from the Father’s presence, and I entered into the created world, and now I will leave this world and return to the Father’s side.”

His disciples said, “At last you’re speaking to us clearly and not using
veiled speech and metaphors! Now we understand that you know everything
there is to know, and we don’t need to question you further. And everything
you’ve taught us convinces us that you have come directly from God!”

Jesus replied, “Now you finally believe in me. And the time has come when you will all be scattered, and each one of you will go your own way, leaving me alone! Yet I am never alone, for the Father is always with me. And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in me. For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world!

{ 1 comment }

Those who truly love me are those who obey my commandments. Whoever passionately loves me will be passionately loved by my Father. And I will passionately love you in return and will manifest my life within you.”

Then one of the disciples named Judas (not Judas the locksmith) said,
“Lord, why is it you will only reveal your identity to us and not to everyone?”

Jesus replied, “Loving me empowers you to obey my word. And my
Father will love you so deeply that we will come to you and make you our
dwelling place. But those who don’t love me will not obey my words. The
Father did not send me to speak my own revelation, but the words of my
Father. I am telling you this while I am still with you. But when the Father
sends the Spirit of Holiness, the One like me who sets you free, he will teach
you all things in my name. And he will inspire you to remember every word
that I’ve told you.

I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile
peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be
troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous!

Remember what I’ve told you, that I must go away, but I promise to come back to you. So if you truly love me, you will be glad for me, since I’m returning to my Father, who is greater than I. So when all of these things happen, you will still trust and cling to me. I won’t speak with you much longer, for the ruler of this dark world is coming. But he has no power over me, for he has nothing to use against me. I am doing exactly what the Father destined for me to accomplish, so that the world will discover how much I love my Father. Now come with me.”

Don’t worry or surrender to your fear. For you’ve believed in God, now trust and believe in me also. My Father’s house has many dwelling places. If it were otherwise, I would tell you plainly, because I go to prepare a place for you to rest. And when everything is ready, I will come back and take you into me so that you will be where I am. And you already know the way to the place where I’m going.”

Thomas said to him, “Master, we don’t know where you’re going, so how could we know the way there?”

Jesus explained, “I am the Way, I am the Truth, and I am the Life. No one
comes next to the Father except through union with me. To know me is to
know my Father too. And from now on you will realize that you have seen him
and experienced him.”

Philip spoke up, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be all that we need!”

Jesus replied, “Philip, I’ve been with you all this time and you still don’t
know who I am? How could you ask me to show you the Father, for anyone
who has looked at me has seen the Father. Don’t you believe that the Father
is living in me and that I am living in the Father? Even my words are not my
own but come from my Father, for he lives in me and performs his miracles
of power through me. Believe that I live as one with my Father and that my
Father lives as one with me—or at least, believe because of the mighty miracles
I have done.

I tell you this timeless truth: The person who follows me in faith, believing
in me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do—even greater miracles
than these because I go to be with my Father! For I will do whatever you ask
me to do when you ask me in my name. And that is how the Son will show
what the Father is really like and bring glory to him. Ask me anything in my
name, and I will do it for you!

Loving me empowers you to obey my commands. And I will ask the
Father and he will give you another Savior, the Holy Spirit of Truth, who will
be to you a friend just like me—and he will never leave you. The world won’t
receive him because they can’t see him or know him. But you will know him
intimately, because he will make his home in you and will live inside you.

I promise that I will never leave you helpless or abandon you as
orphans—I will come back to you! Soon I will leave this world and they will
see me no longer, but you will see me, because I will live again, and you will
come alive too. So when that day comes, you will know that I am living in the
Father and that you are one with me, for I will be living in you.

I don’t refer to all of you when I tell you these things, for I know the ones
I’ve chosen—to fulfill the Scripture that says, ‘The one who shared supper with
me treacherously betrays me.’ I am telling you this now, before it happens,
so that when the prophecy comes to pass you will be convinced that I Am.

Listen to this timeless truth: whoever receives the messenger I send receives
me, and the one who receives me receives the Father who sent me.”

Then Jesus was moved deeply in his spirit. Looking at his disciples, he announced, “I tell you the truth—one of you is about to betray me.”

Eyeing each other, his disciples puzzled over which one of them could do such a thing. The disciple that Jesus dearly loved was at the right of him at the table and was leaning his head on Jesus. Peter gestured to this disciple to ask Jesus who it was he was referring to. Then the dearly loved disciple leaned into Jesus’ chest and whispered, “Master, who is it?”

The one I give this piece of bread to after I’ve dipped it in the bowl,” Jesus replied.

Then he dipped the piece of bread into the bowl and handed it to Judas, the locksmith, the son of Simon. And when Judas ate the piece of bread, Satan entered him. Then Jesus looked at Judas and said, “What you are planning to do, go do it now.” None of those around the table realized what was happening. Some thought that Judas, their trusted treasurer, was being told to go buy what was needed for the Passover celebration, or perhaps to go give something to the poor. So Judas left quickly and went out into the dark night to betray Jesus.

After Judas left the room, Jesus said, “The time has come for the glory of God
to surround the Son of Man, and God will be greatly glorified through what
happens to me. And very soon God will unveil the glory of the Son of Man.

My dear friends, I only have a brief time left to be with you. And then
you will search and long for me. But I tell you what I told the Jewish leaders:
you’ll not be able to come where I am.

So I give you now a new commandment: Love each other just as much
as I have loved you. For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you
by loving one another, everyone will know that you’re my true followers.”

Peter interjected, “But, Master, where are you going?”

Jesus replied, “Where I am going you won’t be able to follow, but one day
you will follow me there.

Peter the Rock said, “What do you mean I’m not able to follow you now?
I would sacrifice my life to die for you!”

Jesus answered, “Would you really lay down your life for me, Peter?
Here’s the absolute truth: Before the rooster crows in the morning, you will
say three times that you don’t even know me!

Jesus knew that the night before Passover would be his last night on earth before leaving this world to return to the Father’s side. All throughout his time with his disciples, Jesus had demonstrated a deep and tender love for them. And now he longed to show them the full measure of his love. Before their evening meal had begun, the accuser had already planted betrayal into the heart of Judas, the locksmith, the son of Simon.

Now Jesus was fully aware that the Father had placed all things under his
control, for he had come from God and was about to go back to be with him.
So he got up from the meal and took off his outer robe, and took a towel and
wrapped it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to
wash the disciples’ dirty feet and dry them with his towel.

But when Jesus got to Simon Peter, he objected and said, “I can’t let you
wash my dirty feet—you’re my Lord!”

Jesus replied, “You don’t understand yet the meaning of what I’m doing,
but soon it will be clear to you.

Peter looked at Jesus and said, “You’ll never wash my dirty feet—never!”

But Peter, if you don’t allow me to wash your feet,” Jesus responded,
then you will not be able to share life with me.”

So Peter said, “Lord, in that case, don’t just wash my feet, wash my hands
and my head too!” Jesus said to him, “You are already clean. You’ve been washed completely and you just need your feet to be cleansed—but that can’t be said of all of you.”

For Jesus knew which one was about to betray him, and that’s why he told
them that not all of them were clean.

After washing their feet, he put his robe on and returned to his place at
the table. “Do you understand what I just did?” Jesus said. “You’ve called
me your teacher and lord, and you’re right, for that’s who I am. So if I’m
your teacher and lord and have just washed your dirty feet, then you should
follow the example that I’ve set for you and wash one another’s dirty feet.
Now do for each other what I have just done for you. I speak to you timeless
truth: a servant is not superior to his master, and an apostle is never greater
than the one who sent him. So now put into practice what I have done for
you, and you will experience a life enriched with untold blessings!

Now there were a number of foreigners from among the nations who were
worshippers at the feast. They went to Philip (who came from the village of
Bethsaida in Galilee) and they asked him, “Would you take us to see Jesus? We
want to see him.” So Philip went to find Andrew, and then they both went to
inform Jesus.

He replied to them, “Now is the time for the Son of Man to be glorified.
Let me make this clear: A single grain of wheat will never be more than a
single grain of wheat unless it drops into the ground and dies. Because then it
sprouts and produces a great harvest of wheat—all because one grain died.

The person who loves his life and pampers himself will miss true life!
But the one who detaches his life from this world and abandons himself to me,
will find true life and enjoy it forever! If you want to be my disciple, follow me
and you will go where I am going. And if you truly follow me as my disciple,
the Father will shower his favor upon your life.

Even though I am torn within, and my soul is in turmoil, I will not ask
the Father to rescue me from this hour of trial. For I have come to fulfill my
purpose—to offer myself to God. So, Father, bring glory to your name!

Then suddenly a booming voice was heard from the sky,

“I have glorified my name!
And I will glorify it through you again!”

The audible voice of God startled the crowd standing nearby. Some
thought it was only thunder, yet others said, “An angel just spoke to him!”

Then Jesus told them, “The voice you heard was not for my benefit, but
for yours—to help you believe. From this moment on, everything in this
world is about to change, for the ruler of this dark world will be overthrown.
And I will do this when I am lifted up off the ground and when I draw the
hearts of people to gather them to me.” He said this to indicate that he
would die by being lifted up on the cross.

People from the crowd spoke up and said, “Die? How could the Anointed
One die? The Word of God says that the Anointed One will live with us forever,
but you just said that the Son of Man must be lifted up from the earth. And
who is this Son of Man anyway?”

Jesus replied, “You will have the light shining with you for only a little
while longer. While you still have me, walk in the light, so that the darkness
doesn’t overtake you. For when you walk in the dark you have no idea where
you’re going. So believe and cling to the light while I am with you, so that
you will shine as children filled with light.

After saying this, Jesus then entered into the crowd and went into hiding. Even with the overwhelming evidence of all the many signs and wonders that Jesus had performed in front of them, his critics still refused to believe. This fulfilled the prophecy given by Isaiah: “Lord, who has believed our message? Who has seen the unveiling of your great power?” And the people were not able to believe, for Isaiah also prophesied: “God has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts to the truth. So with their eyes and hearts closed they cannot understand the truth nor turn to me so that I could instantly cleanse and heal them.”

Isaiah said these things because he had seen and experienced the splendor
of Jesus and prophesied about him. Yet there were many Jewish leaders
who believed in Jesus, but because they feared the “Separated Ones” they
kept it secret, so they wouldn’t be ostracized by the assembly of the Jews.
For they loved the glory that men could give them rather than the glory that
came from God!

Jesus shouted out passionately, “To believe in me is to believe in God who
sent me. For when you look at me you are seeing the One who sent me.
I have come as a light to shine in this dark world so that all who trust in
me will no longer wander in darkness. If you hear my words and refuse to
follow them, I do not judge you. For I have not come to judge you but to save
you. If you reject me and refuse to follow my words, you already have a
judge. The message of truth I have given you will rise up to judge you at the Day of Judgment. For I’m not speaking as someone who is self-appointed, but I speak by the authority of the Father himself who sent me, and who
instructed me what to say. And I know that the Father’s commandments
result in eternal life, and that’s why I speak the very words I’ve heard him
speak.

Six days before the Passover began, Jesus went back to Bethany, the town
where he raised Lazarus from the dead. They had prepared a supper for Jesus.
Martha served, and Lazarus and Mary were among those at the table. Mary
picked up an alabaster jar filled with nearly a liter of extremely rare and costly
perfume—the purest extract of nard, and she anointed Jesus’ feet. Then she
wiped them dry with her long hair. And the fragrance of the costly oil filled the
house. But Judas the locksmith, Simon’s son, the betrayer, spoke up and said,
“What a waste! We could have sold this perfume for a fortune and given the
money to the poor!”

(In fact, Judas had no heart for the poor. He only said this because he was
a thief and in charge of the money case. He would steal money whenever he
wanted from the funds given to support Jesus’ ministry.)

Jesus said to Judas, “Leave her alone! She has saved it for the time of my
burial. You’ll always have the poor with you; but you won’t always have me.

When the word got out that Jesus was not far from Jerusalem, a large
crowd came out to see him, and they also wanted to see Lazarus, the man
Jesus had raised from the dead. This prompted the chief priests to seal their
plans to do away with both Jesus and Lazarus, for his miracle testimony was
incontrovertible and was persuading many of the Jews living in Jerusalem to
believe in Jesus.

The next day the news that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem swept
through the massive crowd gathered for the feast. So they took palm
branches and went out to meet him. Everyone was shouting, “Lord, be our
Savior! Blessed is the one who comes to us sent from Jehovah-God, the King
of Israel!”

Then Jesus found a young donkey and rode on it to fulfill what was prophesied:
“People of Zion, have no fear! Look—it’s your king coming to you
riding on a young donkey!”

Now Jesus’ disciples didn’t fully understand the importance of what was
taking place, but after he was raised and exalted into glory, they understood how
Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies in the Scriptures that were written about him.
All the eyewitnesses of the miracle Jesus performed when he called
Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead kept spreading the
news about Jesus to everyone. The news of this miracle of resurrection
caused the crowds to swell as great numbers of people welcomed him into
the city with joy. But the “Separated Ones” were disturbed by this and said
to each other, “We won’t be able to stop this. The whole world is going to
run after him!”

DELIGHT in how Jesus speaks about His relationship with His father.
I have fully embraced My Father and I treasure His every word.” (John 8:55)

DISCERN: Which father are you looking to for the truth about your identity?
Discern your Father in heaven’s desires – from the manipulation of the father of lies. “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” (John 8:44)

DELIGHT in becoming your Father’s son. Knowing you are a son of God enables you to live in the embrace of your Father and the power of His indwelling Spirit so you are free of the domination and enslavement of sin in your old habitual patterns of thought, feeling and action (John 8:31-36).

Jesus said, “Can you name one sin that I’ve committed (John 8:46)?” Let the revelation of being a son set you free from sin (John 8:31-32,36)! “The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who DELIGHTS in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.” (Psalm 37:23-24)

DELIGHT in Jesus’ Life Message!I speak to you this eternal truth. Whoever cherishes my words and keeps them will never experience death.” (John 8:51)

DISCERN: What does this mean to you?

“We are never-ceasing spiritual beings with an eternal destiny in the full world of God.” (Willard p98) ”Those who are love and loved by God are not allowed to cease to exist, because they are God’s treasure. He DELIGHTS in them and intends to hold fast to them. He has even prepared for them an individualised eternal work in his vast universe…There God will preserve every one of his treasured friends in the wholeness of their personal existence precisely because he treasures them in that form.” (Willard 1998 p97)

Lord, I DELIGHT in You as my eternal God – always beyond time and able to see the end from the beginning – the I AM who existed before Abraham was born. I DELIGHT in you as my loving Father. In You I live and have my being. I am Your son and I DELIGHT in the freedom given me to proclaim my life message with faith!
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Father, I pray Your message of sonship will find a home in my friends’ hearts. I pray they will know by revelation what it means to be free from sin and to be Your children. I declare over them, “If you really knew God, you would listen, receive and respond with faith to His words (John 8:47).”
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Jesus, I pray for the salvation of my fellow Australians. Pour out Your Spirit that we might be convicted of sin, repentant and reconciled to You as Father. Transform us from orphans to sons with eternal DESTINY.

Journal what you hear and how this helps define your DESTINY journey.

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 8:21-30 The Passion Translation. “I only do that which delights His heart.” (John 8:29)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in how clearly Jesus knew His authority in the Father.
Jesus said, “I am not from this world like you are. That’s why I’ve told you that you will all die in your sins if you fail to believe that I AM who I AM.” So they asked Him plainly, “Who are you?” “I AM the one I’ve always claimed to be…I will testify to the world of the truths I have heard from My Father, and the Father who has sent me is trustworthy. I only speak the truth that the Father has revealed to me. I am His messenger and He is always with Me, for I only do that which delights His heart.” (John 8:24-26,29) We begin to get in touch with the Father’s desires in our heart by paying attention to tiny desires, tiny preferences. The fulfilment of DESTINY can seem like a mirage in the desert that disappears as you approach. The road to getting the big desires of the heart answered is to say ‘Yes’ to the small desires. (Hill 2014) DELIGHT in your Father and His authority by only saying what the Father has revealed to you, as His messenger, and only doing that which delights His heart (John 8:28-29.)

DISCERN: What is the Father inviting you to say to those around you?

DELIGHT in the tender truth that Your Father listens to every word you speak!

ASK the Father what He would love to hear you say. Listen…so you can DELIGHT His heart!

DIVINE DESTINY. Our DESTINY is a divine world and a divine life – in the kingdom of heaven! “It is a world and a life that ordinary people have entered and are entering even now. It is a world that is open to us to enter on earth. We feel its call.” (Willard 2014 p ix) “You are really walking in the good news of the kingdom if you can go with confidence to any of the hopeless people around you and effortlessly convey assurance that they can enter a blessed life with God,” simply saying, “’Repent, for life in the kingdom is now one of your options.’” (Willard 1998 p138, 150) God has positioned you among people who are drawn to you, so to bring the gospel to them, you only need to be yourself – who you truly are in Christ. You are the person most suited to reach the ones God leads you to!

CONTINUE TO PRACTISE SHARING who Jesus to you – the good and relevant news that Jesus has come to set people free and give them life. Think of a person around you who needs Jesus. Pray for them. Ask the Spirit of God to lead you in what to say and ask Him to help you recognise opportunities to share your simple testimony – in brief, relevant and authentic moments of connection with those around you.

Lord God Almighty, I DELIGHT myself in You! Your words are honey to my heart and sweetness on my lips. Speak truth and life through me, in Jesus’ name. May I DELIGHT Your heart, Father and bring You glory!
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Holy Spirit, alert me what to say to the friends I have listed and am praying for each day– so I can share the “truths that I have heard from my Father” at times and in ways that connect with their heart.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Father, we pray for those who do not believe Jesus is who He said he is and for those who will die in their sins. We pray that we as the Church will arise as harvest workers and bring the gospel of Jesus into the ripe harvest fields of our neighbourhoods across Australia and the nations of the world. (Acts 2:17-21)

In the village of Bethany there was a man named Lazarus, and his sisters,
Mary and Martha. Mary was the one who would anoint Jesus’ feet with costly perfume and dry his feet with her long hair. One day Lazarus became very sick to the point of death. So his sisters sent a message to Jesus, “Lord, our brother Lazarus, the one you love, is very sick. Please come!”

When he heard this, he said, “This sickness will not end in death for
Lazarus, but will bring glory and praise to God. This will reveal the greatness
of the Son of God by what takes place.

Now even though Jesus loved Mary, Martha, and Lazarus with a divine
love, he remained where he was for two more days. Finally, on the third day,
he said to his disciples, “Come. It’s time to go to Bethany.

“But Teacher,” they said to him, “do you really want to go back there? It
was just a short time ago the people of Judea were going to stone you!”

Jesus replied, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight in every day? You
can go through a day without the fear of stumbling when you walk in the One
who gives light to the world. But you will stumble when the light is not in you,
for you’ll be walking in the dark.

Then Jesus added, “Lazarus, our friend, has just fallen asleep. It’s time
that I go and awaken him.

When they heard this, the disciples replied, “Lord, if he has just fallen
asleep, then he’ll get better.” Jesus was speaking about Lazarus’ death, but
the disciples presumed he was talking about natural sleep.

Then Jesus made it plain to them, “Lazarus is dead. And for your sake,
I’m glad I wasn’t there, because now you have another opportunity to see who
I am so that you will learn to trust in me. Come, let’s go and see him.

So Thomas, nicknamed the Twin, remarked to the other disciples, “Let’s
go so that we can die with him.”

Now when they arrived at Bethany, which was only about two miles
from Jerusalem, Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four
days. Many friends of Mary and Martha had come from the region to console
them over the loss of their brother. And when Martha heard that Jesus was
approaching the village, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed in the house.

Martha said to Jesus, “My Lord, if only you had come sooner, my brother
wouldn’t have died. But I know that if you were to ask God for anything, he
would do it for you.”

Jesus told her, “Your brother will rise and live.

She replied, “Yes, I know he will rise with everyone else on resurrection
day.”

Martha,” Jesus said, “You don’t have to wait until then. I am the Resurrection, and I am Life Eternal. Anyone who clings to me in faith, even though he dies, will live forever. And the one who lives by believing in me will never
die. Do you believe this?

Then Martha replied, “Yes, Lord, I do! I’ve always believed that you are
the Anointed One, the Son of God who has come into the world for us!”

Then she left and hurried off to her sister, Mary, and called her aside from all
the mourners and whispered to her, “He’s here! And he wants to speak with
you.”

So when Mary heard this, she quickly went off to find him, for Jesus was
lingering outside the village at the same spot where Martha met him. Now
when Mary’s friends who were comforting her noticed how quickly she ran
out of the house, they followed her, assuming she was going to the tomb of her
brother to mourn.

When Mary finally found Jesus outside the village, she fell at his feet in tears
and said, “Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.”

When Jesus looked at Mary and saw her weeping at his feet, and all
her friends who were with her grieving, he shuddered with emotion and was
deeply moved with tenderness and compassion. He said to them, “Where did
you bury him?

“Lord, come with us and we’ll show you,” they replied.

Then tears streamed down Jesus’ face.

Seeing Jesus weep caused many of the mourners to say, “Look how much
he loved Lazarus.” Yet others said, “Isn’t this the One who opens blind eyes?
Why didn’t he do something to keep Lazarus from dying?”

Then Jesus, with intense emotions, came to the tomb—a cave with a stone
placed over its entrance. Jesus told them, “Roll away the stone.

Then Martha said, “But Lord, it’s been four days since he died—by now his
body is already decomposing!”

Jesus looked at her and said, “Didn’t I tell you that if you will believe in
me, you will see God unveil his power?

So they rolled away the heavy stone. Jesus gazed into heaven and said,
Father, thank you that you have heard my prayer, for you listen to every
word I speak. Now, so that these who stand here with me will believe that you
have sent me to the earth as your messenger, I will use the power you have
given me.” Then with a loud voice Jesus shouted with authority: “Lazarus!
Come out of the tomb!

Then in front of everyone, Lazarus, who had died four days earlier, slowly
hobbled out—he still had grave clothes tightly wrapped around his hands and
feet and covering his face! Jesus said to them, “Unwrap him and let him loose.

From that day forward many of those who had come to visit Mary
believed in him, for they had seen with their own eyes this amazing miracle! But a few went back to inform the “Separated Ones” about what Jesus had done.

So the “Separated Ones” and the chief priests called a special meeting of
the High Council and said, “So what are we going to do about this man? Look
at all the great miracles he’s performing! If we allow him to continue like this,
everyone will believe in him. And the Romans will take action and destroy both
our country and our people!”

Now Caiaphas, the high priest that year, spoke up and said, “You don’t
understand a thing! Don’t you realize we’d be much better off if this one man
were to die for the people than for the whole nation to perish?”

(This prophecy that Jesus was destined to die for the Jewish people
didn’t come from Caiaphas himself, but he was moved by God to prophesy as
the chief priest. And Jesus’ death would not be for the Jewish people only, but to gather together God’s children scattered around the world and unite them as one.)

So from that day on, they were committed to killing Jesus. For this reason Jesus no longer went out in public among the Jews. But he
went in the wilderness to a village called Ephraim, where he secluded himself
with his disciples.

Now the time came for the Passover preparations, and many from the
countryside went to Jerusalem for their ceremonial cleansing before the feast
began. And all the people kept looking out for Jesus, expecting him to come
to the city. They said to themselves while they waited in the temple courts, “Do you
think that he will dare come to the feast?” For the leading priests and the “Separated
Ones” had given orders that they be informed immediately if anyone
saw Jesus, so they could seize and arrest him.

Listen to this eternal truth: The person who sneaks over the wall to enter
into the sheep pen, rather than coming through the gate, reveals himself as
a thief coming to steal. But the True Shepherd walks right up to the gate,
and because the gatekeeper knows who he is, he opens the gate to let him
in. And the sheep recognize the voice of the True Shepherd, for he calls his
own by name and leads them out, for they belong to him. And when he has
brought out all his sheep, he walks ahead of them and they will follow him,
for they are familiar with his voice. But they will run away from strangers
and never follow them because they know it’s the voice of a stranger.” Jesus
told them this parable even though they didn’t understand a word of what he
meant.

So Jesus went over it again, “I speak to you eternal truth: I am the Gate for
the flock. All those who broke in before me are thieves who came to steal,
but the sheep never listened to them. I am the Gateway. To enter through me is to experience life, freedom, and satisfaction. A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, kill, and destroy. But my desire is to give
you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until
you overflow!

I am the Good Shepherd who has come to give my life as
a sacrifice for the sheep. But the worker who serves only for wages is not
a real shepherd. Because he has no heart for the sheep he will run away and
abandon them when he sees the wolf coming. And then the wolf mauls the
sheep, drags them off, and scatters them.

I alone am the Good Shepherd, and I know those whose hearts are
mine, for they recognize me and know me, just as my Father knows my heart
and I know my Father’s heart. I am ready to give my life for the sheep.

And I have other sheep that I will gather which are not of this Jewish
flock. And I, their shepherd, must lead them too, and they will follow me and
listen to my voice. And I will join them all into one flock with one shepherd.

The Father has an intense love for me because I freely give my own
life—to raise it up again. I surrender my own life, and no one has the power
to take my life from me. I have the authority to lay it down and the power to
take it back again. This is the destiny my Father has set before me.

This teaching set off another heated controversy among the Jewish leaders.
Many of them said, “This man is a demon-possessed lunatic! Why would
anyone listen to a word he says?” But then there were others who weren’t
so sure: “His teaching is full of insight. These are not the ravings of a madman!
How could a demonized man give sight to one born blind?”

The time came to observe the winter Feast of Renewal in Jerusalem. Jesus
walked into the temple area under Solomon’s covered walkway when the
Jewish leaders encircled him and said, “How much longer will you keep us in
suspense? Tell us the truth and clarify this for us once and for all. Are you really
the Messiah, the Anointed One?”

Jesus answered them, “I have told you the truth already and you did not
believe me. The proof of who I am is revealed by all the miracles that I do in
the name of my Father. Yet, you stubbornly refuse to follow me, because
you are not my sheep. As I’ve told you before: ‘My own sheep will hear my
voice and I know each one, and they will follow me.’ I give to them the gift
of eternal life and they will never be lost and no one has the power to snatch
them out of my hands. My Father, who has given them to me as his gift, is the
mightiest of all, and no one has the power to snatch them from my Father’s
care. The Father and I are one.

When they heard this, the Jewish leaders were so enraged that they
picked up rocks to stone him to death. But Jesus said, “My Father has empowered
me to work many miracles and acts of mercy among you. So which one
of them do you want to stone me for?

The Jewish leaders responded, “We’re not stoning you for anything good
you did—it’s because of your blasphemy! You’re just a son of Adam, but you’ve
claimed to be God!”

Jesus answered, “Isn’t it written in your Scriptures that God said, ‘You
are gods?’ The Scriptures cannot be denied or found to be in error. So if
those who have the message of the Scriptures are said to be ‘gods,’ then why
would you accuse me of blasphemy? For I have been uniquely chosen by
God and he is the one who sent me to you. How then could it be blasphemy
for me to say, ‘I am the Son of God!’ If I’m not doing the beautiful works that my Father sent me to do, then don’t believe me. But if you see me doing the beautiful works of God upon the earth, then you should at least believe
the evidence of the miracles, even if you don’t believe my words! Then you
would come to experience me and be convinced that I am in the Father and
the Father is in me.

Once again they attempted to seize him, but he escaped miraculously
from their clutches. Then Jesus went back to the place where John had baptized
him at the crossing of the Jordan. Many came out to where he was and
said about him, “Even though John didn’t perform any miracles, everything he
predicted about this man is true!” And many people became followers of
Jesus at the Jordan and believed in him.

Afterward, as Jesus walked down the street, he noticed a man blind from birth.
His disciples asked him, “Teacher, whose sin caused this guy’s blindness, his
own, or the sin of his parents?”

Jesus answered, “Neither. It happened to him so that you could watch
him experience God’s miracle. While I am with you, it is daytime and we must
do the works of God who sent me while the light shines. For there is coming
a dark night when no one will be able to work. As long as I am with you my
life is the light that pierces the world’s darkness.”

Then Jesus spat on the ground and made some clay with his saliva. Then
he anointed the blind man’s eyes with the clay. And he said to the blind man,
“Now go and wash the clay from your eyes in the ritual pool of Siloam.” So
he went and washed his face and as he came back, he could see for the first
time in his life!

This caused quite a stir among the people of the neighborhood, for they
noticed the blind beggar was now seeing! They began to say to one another,
“Isn’t this the blind man who once sat and begged?” Some said, “No, it can’t be him!” Others said, “But it looks just like him—it has to be him!”

All the while the man kept insisting, “I’m the man who was blind!”

Finally, they asked him, “What has happened to you?”

He replied, “I met the man named Jesus! He rubbed clay on my eyes and
said, ‘Go to the pool named Siloam and wash.’ So I went and while I was washing
the clay from my eyes I began to see for the very first time ever!”

So the people of the neighborhood inquired, “Where is this man?”

“I have no idea.” the man replied.

So the people marched him over to the “Separated Ones” to speak with
them. They were concerned because the miracle Jesus performed happened
on a Sabbath day, a day that no one was allowed to “work.”

Then the “Separated Ones” asked the man, “How did you have your
sight restored?”

He replied, “A man anointed my eyes with clay, then I washed, and now I
can see for the first time in my life!”

Then an argument broke out among the “Separated Ones” over the healing
of the blind man on the Sabbath. Some said, “This man who performed this
healing is clearly not from God! He doesn’t even observe the Sabbath!” Others
said, “If Jesus is just an ordinary sinner, how could he perform a miracle like
that?”

This prompted them to turn on the man healed of blindness, putting him
on the spot in front of them all, demanding an answer. They asked, “Who do
you say he is—this man who opened your blind eyes?”

“He’s a prophet of God!” the man replied.

Still refusing to believe that the man had been healed and was truly blind
from birth, the Jewish leaders called for the man’s parents to be brought to
them.

So they asked his parents, “Is this your son?”

“Yes,” they answered.“Was he really born blind?”

“Yes, he was,” they replied.

So they pressed his parents to answer, “Then how is it that he’s now seeing?”

“We have no idea,” they answered. “We don’t know what happened to
our son. Ask him, he’s a mature adult. He can speak for himself.” (Now the
parents were obviously intimidated by the Jewish religious leaders, for they had
already announced to the people that if anyone publicly confessed Jesus as the
Messiah, they would be excommunicated. That’s why they told them, “Ask
him, he’s a mature adult. He can speak for himself.”)

So once again they summoned the man who was healed of blindness and
said to him, “Swear to God to tell us the truth! We know the man who healed
you is a sinful man! Do you agree?”

The healed man replied, “I have no idea what kind of man he is. All I
know is that I was blind and now I can see for the first time in my life!”

“But what did he do to you?” they asked. “How did he heal you?”

The man responded, “I told you once and you didn’t listen to me. Why do
you make me repeat it? Are you wanting to be his followers too?”

This angered the Jewish leaders. They heaped insults on him, “We can tell
you are one of his followers—now we know it! We are true followers of Moses,
for we know that God spoke to Moses directly. But as for this one, we don’t
know where he’s coming from!”

“Well, what a surprise this is!” the man said. “You don’t even know where
he comes from, but he healed my eyes and now I can see! We know that God
doesn’t listen to sinners, but only to godly people who do his will. Yet who has
ever heard of a man born blind that was healed and given back his eyesight? I
tell you, if this man isn’t from God, he wouldn’t be able to heal me like he has!”

Some of the Jewish leaders were enraged and said, “Just who do you
think you are to lecture us! You were born a blind, filthy sinner!” So they threw
the man out in the street.

When Jesus learned they had thrown him out, he went to find him and
said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”

The man whose blind eyes were healed answered, “Who is he, Master?
Tell me so that I can place all my faith in him.”

Jesus replied, “You’re looking right at him. He’s speaking with you. It’s
me, the one in front of you now.”

Then the man threw himself at his feet and worshipped Jesus and said,
“Lord, I believe in you!”

And Jesus said, “I have come to judge those who think they see and
make them blind. And for those who are blind, I have come to make them
see.”

Some of the “Separated Ones” were standing nearby and overheard
these words. They interrupted Jesus and said, “You mean to tell us that we are
blind?”

Jesus told them, “If you would acknowledge your blindness, then your
sin would be removed. But now that you claim to see, your sin remains with
you!

Jesus said to those who believed in him, “When you continue to embrace all
that I teach, you prove that you are my true followers. For if you embrace the
truth, it will release more freedom into your lives.”

Surprised by this, they said, “But we’re the descendants of Abraham and
we’re already free. We’ve never been in bondage to anyone. How could you
say that we will be released into more freedom?”

I speak eternal truth,” Jesus said. “When you sin you are not free. You’ve
become a slave in bondage to your sin. And slaves have no permanent standing
in a family, like a son does, for a son is a part of the family forever. So if
the revelation of being a son sets you free from sin, then become a true son
and be unquestionably free! Even though you are descendants of Abraham,
you desire to kill me because the message I bring has not found a home in
your hearts. Yet the truths I speak I’ve seen and received in my Father’s presence.
But you are doing what you’ve learned from your father!”

“What do mean?” they replied. “Abraham is our father!”

Jesus said, “If you are really Abraham’s sons, then you would follow in the
steps of Abraham. I’ve only told you the truth that I’ve heard in my Father’s
presence, but now you are wanting me dead—is that how Abraham acted?
No, you people are doing what your father has taught you!”

Indignant, they responded, “What are you talking about? We only have
one Father, God himself! We’re not illegitimate!”

Jesus said, “Then if God were really your father, you would love me, for
I’ve come from his presence. I didn’t come here on my own, but God sent
me to you. Why don’t you understand what I say? You don’t understand
because your hearts are closed to my message! You are the offspring of your
father, the devil, and you serve your
father very well, passionately carrying out his desires. He’s been a murderer
right from the start! He never stood with the One who is the True Prince, for
he’s full of nothing but lies—lying is his native tongue. He is a master of deception and the father of lies! But I am the True Prince who speaks nothing but the truth, yet you refuse to believe and you want nothing to do with me. Can you name one sin that I’ve committed? Then if I am telling you only the truth, why don’t you believe me? If you really knew God, you would listen, receive, and respond with faith to his words. But since you don’t listen and respond to what he says, it proves you don’t belong to him and you have no room for him in your hearts.

“See! We were right all along!” some of the Jewish leaders shouted.
“You’re nothing but a demon-possessed Samaritan!”

Jesus replied, “It is not a demon that would cause me to honor my Father.
I live my life for his honor, even though you insult me for it. I never have a
need to seek my own glory, for the Father will do that for me, and he will judge
those who do not. I speak to you this eternal truth: whoever cherishes my
words and keeps them will never experience death.

This prompted the Jewish leaders to say, “Now we know for sure that
you’re demon possessed! You just said that those who keep watch over your
words will never experience death, but Abraham and all the prophets have
died! Do you think you’re greater than our father Abraham and all the prophets?
You are so delusional about yourself that you make yourself greater than
you are!”

Jesus answered them, “If I were to tell you how great I am, it would mean
nothing. But my Father is the One who will prove it and will glorify me. Isn’t
he the One you claim is your God? But in reality, you’ve never embraced
him as your own. I know him, and I would be a liar, like yourselves, if I told
you anything less than that. I have fully embraced him, and I treasure his every
word. And not only that, Abraham, your ancestor, was overjoyed when he
received the revelation of my coming to earth. Yes, he foresaw me coming and
was filled with delight!

But many of the Jewish leaders doubted him and said, “What are you
talking about? You’re not even fifty years old yet. You talk like you’ve seen
Abraham!”

Jesus said to them, “I give you this eternal truth: I have existed long
before Abraham was born, for I Am!”

When they heard this, they picked up rocks to stone him, but Jesus concealed
himself as he passed through the crowd and went away from there.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 8:12-20 The Passion Translation. “I am light to the world.” (John 8:12)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in how Jesus testified to the truth together with His Father.
Jesus said, “I absolutely know who I am, where I’ve come from and where I’m going…I discern truth. And I am not alone in My judgements, for My Father and I have the same understanding in all things, and He has sent Me to you. What I say about who I am is true, for I am not alone in my testimony – My Father is the other witness, and we testify together of the truth. If you knew Me, you would recognise My Father too.” (John 8:14, 16,18,20) When we know God’s promises, His word to us and through us, we are to thank and praise Him for it; and stand on His word and declare it to the world! Your testimony contains God’s power and authority to set others free in the same area where you have won freedom. You’ll find your purpose on earth in your personal testimony. (Cook 2012)

ASK the Holy Spirit your secret name (Revelation 2:17) – the unique identity that the Father sees you with for all eternity – a deep, inner heart-revelation in the core of your being about who the Father sees you to be – your unique identity by His design.” (Hill 2014)

ASK the Holy Spirit for a clear revelation of your Life Message. Spend time listening for His answer during these 40 Days. Prophetic words spoken to you carry clues. Your Life Message will be a life testimony to who God is from your own authentic journey of healing, encounters and insights.

DELIGHT in testifying to the truth that Jesus is the light of the world! It is the sad mistaken of many Christians to suppose that we can or should carry out our Christian duty only within the confines of our local church or denomination. God’s love cannot be contained – it must be released! “Jesus speaks to the world about everything that really matters in life. It is our responsibility to follow Him and be with Him in this difficult, delicate and crucial work.” (Willard 2014 p73)

PRACTISE: Spend time recognising authentic pivotal points in your journey with Jesus. Write these out and practise saying each within 60 seconds – so at relevant times you can tell others what Jesus has done for you.

DECLARE: Jesus, the Word, is within me to know what to say to people and when and how to say it! I have a Life Message that testifies to who the Father is and upon which God has placed grace so the gospel can be heard by the kinds of people who are naturally drawn to me!

TELL the people around you – your story about who Jesus is and who you are in Him!

Lord, I love You! You are the light of my world! Remind me of the inheritance scriptures and prophetic words given to me so I can align myself with who You say I am. Fill me with the message my life is to speak. Your Word in me will be life to those to whom Holy Spirit leads me. Encounter them, Jesus I pray in humble submission.
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Wait on the Lord for His leading as to who God is preparing to hear your life message. Pray for their heart to be open to the light God is bringing and expect opportunities to open up!
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Pray for God’s continuing outpouring of His Holy Spirit on Australia to enable us to walk out our prophetic DESTINY as a South Land of the Holy Spirit, a light to the world and a missionary sending nation.

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 8:1-11 The Passion Translation. “I certainly don’t condemn you…” (John 8:11)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in the Truth of who you are in Jesus’ eyes.

DELIGHT in speaking with forgiveness and love. Jesus’ life message frees us from condemnation and sin; and restores us! Graham Cook distinguishes between what is true and what is Truth. We know what is true about ourselves and others, but it is the Truth – God’s perspective of us – that sets us free! “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17) The life message we are to carry will reflect Jesus’ gracious, loving forgiveness – “You don’t need to do that! This is who you are!” We are to forgive others and love others as we have been loved. “This means living with “heartfelt love towards all – a pervasive condition of vision, joy and love in which we habitually reside.” A kingdom heart lives “with full tenderness towards everyone it deals with.” “We cannot have one posture towards God and a different one towards other people (1 John 4:20).” (Willard 1998 p146,153) Do we carry devastating “truth in love” judgement and condemnation for others in their struggle or Christ’s compassion, Truth and assuranace of break through?

There are three components to agape love in Matthew 7:1-12:

  1. Love does not condemn or blame those around us (Matthew 7:1-5). Love recognises and lifts the weight of the burden they are carrying (Galatians 6:1-2) and gently restores them.
  2. Love does not force the ‘wonderful things of God’ upon others whether or not they want them or are ready for them. (Matthew 7:6) How often have you proven this practise is unhelpful?! We are to be like our Father, ‘who is ‘kind to the unthankful and the evil.’ (Luke 6:35)
  3. Love enables us to directly ask for what we want from other people – and from God (Matthew 7:7-12). This is so simple and straight forward – so child-like! (Willard 1998 p239-240) …“how beautiful it is to see relationships in which asking and receiving are a joyful and loving way of life.” (Willard 1998 p257)

PREPARE key aspects of your testimony so you can share your life message in different ways. Practise saying these in a few moments or words so you can share this often – to strangers, on Facebook and twitter etc.

Jesus, I DELIGHT in You as my compassionate Redeemer! The woman caught in adultery recognised you as MarYah – Lord, Yahweh and became a life messenger for You! (John 8:11). You are the One everyone needs! Lord, replace my fear of accusation or condemnation, and my resistance to sharing who You are. Open my lips to declare who You are, Yahweh. Open my heart to speak my Life Message to those around me with natural ease, supernatural grace and love.
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Jesus, my Lord, I pray my friends, who are still under the accusation of sin, will know your mercy and power to free us from sin and to release us into abundant life in intimacy with You, our Beloved!
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Holy Spirit, equip us with a life message that carries the agape love of God. Free us from condemnation so the people we share the good news with – encounter and embrace Jesus as their Way, Truth and Life.

WEEK 3: Delight In Your Father’s Desires For You

DESTINY QUESTION: Lord, What is Australia’s purpose on earth?
Listen and DELIGHT in what God says about Australia’s purpose. Discuss what you hear and how this helps define your nation’s DESTINY. Share your insights via Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/40DaysofDelight or www.40daysofdelight.com.au

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 7:14-53 The Passion Translation. “My Father sent me to speak truth on his behalf.” (John 7:18)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in the relevance of Jesus’ teaching for our nation in this generation. Jesus said, “first be passionate to do God’s will – and then you will be able to discern.” (John 7:17) In John 7:17-24 Jesus warns about deception. In this generation many say “there is truth in all religions. That is like saying there is water in most poisons so it is all right to drink. It is not the water that kills, it is the poison. The more ambiguous the poison the more dangerous it is. The closer it is to the real thing, the more damage it does. And the enemy of human souls knows this all too well.” (Tozer 2008, p89-90)

REFLECT on the consequences of wilful men, injustice and the lies of popular culture being accepted in our nation.

EMBRACE Jesus’ standards of God’s mercy & truth within you – His healing water for Australia (John 7:24). Consider Jesus’ words, that those who give themselves to Him will receive living water, the Spirit of God Himself, to keep them from ever again being thirsty. They will become a spring welling up to eternal life. Indeed, the living water will become rivers of living water flowing out from the believer’s life to a thirsty world! How relevant is this in our desert continent and our parched culture.

REFLECT on the power of Jesus to restore mercy, truth and Australia’s DESTINY through you (John 7:32-53).

DECLARE: All you thirsty ones, come to Jesus! Come to Jesus and drink! Believe in God, so that rivers of living water will burst out from within you, flowing from your innermost being.” (John 7:38) “The river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb… for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. They will see his face… and His name will be on their foreheads. And they will reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 22:1-5)

DESTINY BLESSING: Bless God’s purpose for our nation. Declare By faith, “We choose to align with the purposes of God for our nation. We will know and fulfil Australia’s DESTINY under the sovereignty of Jesus!”

(Click here to open the Audio Blessing in a new window).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in your Father and His DESTINY for your life.
Holy Father, we are thirsty! We seek to know You truly and DELIGHT and trust in Your appointments – more than our own initiatives or ideas. Implant in us as Your children Your irrevocable call so we can withstand opposition and fulfil the purpose You have for our nation. Make us passionate to do Your will so we can discern between what is from Your heart and what is from our culture; so we can judge according to Your standards of mercy and truth (John 7:17, 24) and fulfil Your purpose for our nation.
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Lord, I cry to you as our judge, have mercy on friends – may they not be among the separated ones – those who will not be able to come to Jesus. Remove every hindrance in them, I pray and open their hearts to Your call.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Jesus, our Saviour, wash away our sin, poisons, contaminates, all the artificial substitutes of religion from our dry hearts. In Your name I declare rivers of living water will burst out from God’s people in our wide dry nation – so those who thirst for righteousness may come to Jesus and drink (John 7:37-38).

WEEK 3: Delight In Your Father’s Desires For You
DESTINY QUESTION: Lord, Why am I here on earth?
To know your DESTINY you need to know your Father’s perspective of your life purpose – why your were born on the earth, in this generation, in your sphere of influence. (Cook 2012) Your key life scriptures, and prophetic words spoken by others, may help you discern God’s answers to your DESTINY Questions. Seek God’s revelation of your DESTINY beyond these 40 days until you have one sentence answers to all the questions.
Listen and DELIGHT in what God says about why you are here. Journal what you hear and how this helps define your DESTINY journey.

QUICK DEVOTIONAL: Read the words in blue.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 7:1-13 The Passion Translation. “Where is he? Have you seen him?” (John 7:11)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in how Jesus partners in His Father’s plans. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future [achariyth is also DESTINY]. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13) Jesus models strength in cooperating in God’s appointed timing for fulfilling DESTINY.

DISCERN God’s timing and strategies for your next steps in the journey to fulfil your life purpose.

DELIGHT in how Jesus resists the pressure of man. In this passage Jesus’ brothers were advising him and pushing him to be successful and famous, to seek man’s approval.

REFLECT: Do you identify with the way Jesus had to resist the pressure and advice of his brothers? A controversy was brewing among people with many differing opinions about Jesus and no one was bold enough to speak out on His behalf because they feared the Jewish leaders.

REFLECT: Do you remember times when you have not taken a public position on something that was right?

Our DESTINY depends on whether we partner in God’s redemptive work in our lives on earth. Wayne Grudem (1994 p746) says “part of the application of redemption is a progressive work that continues throughout our earthly lives. It is a work in which God and man cooperate, each playing distinct roles. This part of the application of redemption is called sanctification: Sanctification is a progressive work of God and man that makes us more and more free from sin and like Christ in our actual lives.”

Countless millions do not find God because they do not want Him or do not want Him to be God. “One does not miss heaven by a hair, but by constant effort to avoid and escape God – those whose entire orientation has slowly and firmly set itself against God and therefore against how the universe actually is. The lost must be willing to hear of and recognize their own ruin before they can find how to enter a different path, the path of eternal life that leads into spiritual formation in Christlikeness.” (Willard 2002 p14-15)

DESTINY BLESSING: Open your heart to your Father’s blessing and receive all you need to activate your DESTINY.

(Click here to open the Audio Blessing in a new window).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in your Father and His DESTINY for your life.
Father, I seek to DELIGHT in You with my whole heart. Purify my motives, Lord, lay them bare and extinguish whatever is not of You. Enable me to resist the pressure of others and stop bowing to mistimed human strategies. Enable me to love You with my whole self and to love others with the wholehearted love with which you have loved me (1 John 4:11-16). I seek only Your glory (John 7:18).
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Father, I pray my friends will discern who Jesus is and not be persuaded by the opinions of others. Give me the boldness to speak out publicly on Jesus’ behalf. Lord, I pray for those I know whose hearts seem firmly set against You – bind the enemy’s schemes and release your Holy Spirit’s enticing grace over them.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Lord Jesus, I pray for those who do not know You. May we know Your timing for when and where we are to go – so we go with You to those You call us to – so all people in all parts of our nation and the world hear the good news of the gospel and can choose abundant life in Your kingdom.

Quick Devotion: Just read the words in blue!

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 6:60-71 The Passion Translation. “No one but You gives us the revelation of eternal life.” (John 6:68)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in the Holy Spirit’s life-giving breath. “You must allow the Holy Spirit to give you life from what I teach, for human understanding alone will be of no help. The words I speak to you are Spirit-breathed and life-giving.” (John 6:63) We can’t rely on human understanding, opinions and insights. “What we really think, how we really feel and what we really would do in various situations may be totally unknown to ourselves or even to those familiar with us. We usually know very little about the things that move in our own soul at the deepest level. What is within is astonishingly complex and subtly – even devious.” (Willard 2002 p3)

REFLECT: Have you found that human understanding alone is no help?

INVITE the Holy Spirit to give you a revelation of eternal life – the kingdom of heaven on earth beginning now!

DELIGHT in Jesus’ revelation of our life in the Kingdom of God. “Lord, No one but You gives us the revelation of eternal life.” (John 6:68) An intelligent, careful, intensive but straightforward reading of the Bible directs us into life in God’s kingdom. (Willard 1998 p5) We are called to first seek the kingdom, or rule of God, to integrate our way with our Father’s merciful, loving, enabling kingdom rule on earth. Everything that obeys those principles, whether by nature or by choice, is within God’s kingdom. If we are faithful to Him, we discover His co-operative faithfulness to us and the effectiveness of His rule in the details of day-to-day existence. (Willard 1998 p31) We see from Biblical stories that some people work toward their purpose through much of their earthly life. Others fulfil their purpose in a single act or season that changes a nation or even our planet. “Caught up in His active rule, our deeds become an element in God’s eternal history. They are what God and we are doing together, making us part of His life and Him a part of ours.” (Willard 1998 p35)

Prayer helps us “learn step by step how to govern, to reign with God in His kingdom. This high calling explains why prayer frequently requires much effort, continuous effort, and on some matters years of effort. Prayer is, above all, a means of forming character. It combines freedom and power with service and love.” (Willard 1998 p275) Buy the oil of intimacy with God by spending time and energy investing your life into the secret place of intimate encounter; a private burning heart relationship with your Lord. (Revelation 3:18). (Mason 2012 p139)

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 6:28-59 The Passion Translation. “I am the Bread of Life.” (John 6:35)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in Jesus begins by believing in Him. The work you can do for God starts with believing in the one He has sent” (John 6:29). The word ‘believe’ appears in John 100 times! “Jesus was Himself the enduring evidence for the truth of His announcement about the availability of God’s kingdom, or governance, to human existence.” (Willard 1998 p27-8) “We know that in all things God worked for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28) When we rely on Christ we receive God’s gift and find His Spirit comes to act with us in our actions (John 6:48-51). “They will all be taught by God Himself. If you are really listening to the Father and learning directly from Him, you will come to Me.” (John 6:45) “Unite your heart to Me and believe – and you will experience eternal life.” “For the longing of My Father is that everyone who embraces the Son and believes in Him will experience eternal life (John 6: 47,40)!”

DELIGHT in Jesus as the Living Bread (John 6:47-58). Jesus offers us Himself, “The Bread of God is the one who came out of heaven to give His life to feed the world. The one who eats My body and drinks My blood lives in Me and I live in him. The Father of Life sent Me, and He is My life. In the same way, the one who feeds upon Me – I will become his life.” (John 6:33, 56-57)

DELIGHT in fasting & relying on Jesus as your living bread during this fast and always. The truth of Jesus as our Living Bread is heightened in meaning during our fast. God has inexhaustible supplies of energy and resource to enable us to fulfil our life purpose. God has given you inheritance scriptures – Words for your life. Read them constantly. Ponder them. Quote them in your worship and in all your circumstances. “His rhema ‘word’ (Matthew 4:4) to me is a concrete reality that becomes, in fasting, physical sustenance to my needy body.” (Willard 1998 p218) When we feast on Jesus Himself we find God is available to nourish, sustain and renew the soul. (Willard 1998 p220)

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in your Father and His DESTINY for your life.
Generous Father, I DELIGHT in You as the source of all my provision. Everything I have is gift from You – breath, sunshine, water, health, strength, parents and children! Lord, remind me of the promises, provision and permissions you have for me in the scriptures that you have given to guide my life and describe my inheritance. Increase my ability to discern Your voice. Increase my dependence on living and learning directly from You. Increase my implicit trust in Jesus’ power to sustain and enable me during this fast and every day of our lives. Lord, I receive the sacrifice of Your body and Your blood and rest in Your gift of eternal life.
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Throw yourself on the mercy of God as you intercede for your friends. Pray they will believe in Jesus as God’s Son and their Saviour.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Pray for God’s life giving power to transform Australia with the kingdom of Jesus and overflow in humble, enabling servanthood, compassion, justice and righteousness to our neighbouring nations (Acts 2:17-21).

Listen and DELIGHT in what God says about why you are here. Journal what you hear and how this helps define your DESTINY journey.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 6:1-27 The Passion Translation.

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in Jesus, the Son of Man, who fulfilled His Father’s purpose on earth. Jesus says to you, “I, the Son of Man am ready to give you what matters most, for God the Father has destined Me for this purpose.”  (John 6:27) “Don’t be afraid, you know who I am.” (John 6:20) “Christianity is actually about Heaven and Earth joining together. It’s about the life of Father, the life of Jesus, the life of the Spirit being manifested in our human condition. God has come to indwell our humanness. The whole point of the Incarnation was that Jesus felt the same things that we felt. He didn’t come to take us away from our humanness, He came to bring God into our humanity.” (Hill 2012)

In today’s stories Jesus responds to the disciples’ worry and panic – over hunger and a violent storm – leaving them satisfied and relieved! (John 6:5, 19). “The situations in which we find ourselves are rarely as important as our response to them. A carefully cultivated heart can, assisted by the grace of God, transform the most painful of situations.” (Willard 2002 p2) Be “relieved to take Jesus in” and be transported (John 6:20-21)! In every challenge and transition there awaits a fresh revelation of who God is for you, a fresh knowledge and experience of God and His resources in your circumstance. (Cooke (2012) In the ordinary situations and moments of our life, “God is constantly poised to do ‘exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or imagine, in terms of the energy that is working in us’ (Ephesians 3:20).” (Willard 1998 p 96)

ASK Father to help you identify anything you may fear about fulfilling your DESTINY. Repent and deal with any resistance in your heart by remembering Jesus is in you. Invite Jesus to stretch your faith (John 6:6).

Your Father DELIGHTS in who you are and cares tenderly about fulfilling the desires of your heart – all the fullness of your gifts and potential that lie dormant in you! Your Father wired you this way to DELIGHT you! Do you expect your DESTINY drop out of the blue onto Your lap? “What we miss, and what we have not been told is that the blueprint of our DESTINY is in our humanity.” (Hill 2014) You are not a passive puppet or passenger in a predestined life. All your intellectual, arts, social and physical abilities are given to you to be developed and cultivated through an intimate creative collaboration with your creator. God cares about your whole self – spirit, mind, will, emotions and body – your interests, style and curiosities; your sense of humour. None of us should be so ‘spiritual’ that we neglect the wholeness of who we and others are. (Willard 1998 p387) You will have eternity to explore the endless potential of your God given abilities!

DESTINY BLESSING: Open your heart to your Father’s blessing and receive all you need to activate your DESTINY.

(Click here to open the Audio Blessing in a new window).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in your Father and His DESTINY for your life.
In your own words express ways you DELIGHT in who God is! Do you know the freedoms, graces, gifts, roles and functions your Father designed you for and invites you to explore? Use your own words to pray by faith into your quest to discover, build and enjoy the purpose of your life on earth.
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Declare Zephaniah 3:17 over your friends. “The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in his love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.”
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Father, I declare Jesus really is the true One we’ve been expecting (John 6:14)! I claim Jesus’ promise, “I, the Son of Man, am ready to give you what matters most, for God the Father has destined Me for this purpose.” (John 6:7) I pray “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or imagine” over the people of Australia, that we would activate our prophetic DESTINY as a South Land of the Holy Spirit and a missionary sending nation.

One day Jesus said again, “I am about to leave you. You will want to find me, but you will still die in your sins. You won’t be able to come where I am going.

This so confused the Jewish leaders that they began to say, “Is he planning to commit suicide? What’s he talking about—‘You won’t be able to come where I am going’?”

Jesus spoke up and said, “You are all from the earth; I am from above. I am not from this world like you are. That’s why I’ve told you that you will all die in your sins if you fail to believe that I Am who I Am.

So they asked him plainly, “Who are you?”

I Am the One I’ve always claimed to be.” Jesus replied. “And I still have many more things to pronounce in judgment about you. For I will testify to the world of the truths that I have heard from my Father, and the Father who sent me is trustworthy.” (Even after all of this, they still didn’t realize that he was speaking about his heavenly Father.)

You will know me as ‘I Am’ after you have lifted me up from the earth as the Son of Man. Then you will realize that I do nothing on my own initiative, but I only speak the truth that the Father has revealed to me. I am his messenger and he is always with me, for I only do that which delights his heart.” These words caused many respected Jews to believe in him.

Listen and DELIGHT in what God says about why you are here. Journal what you hear and how this helps define your DESTINY journey.

DELIGHT in who Jesus is: John 5:17-47 The Passion Translation. “I only do the works I see my Father doing.” (John 5:19)

mal 700 18px/1 sans-serif;">Click here to read Scripture Passage

DELIGHT in your Father’s Impartation of Life. Jesus infuriated His critics by calling God, ‘My Father.’ (John 5:17-18) Jesus said, “I speak to you timeless truth. I never act independently of the Father or do anything through My own initiative. I only do the works I see My Father Doing, for the Son does the same works as His Father.” (John 5:19) Like Jesus we called to only do the work we see our Father doing. Living like this infuriates our critics! We too are to impart life! “For the Father has given the Son the power to impart life, even as the Father imparts life.” (John 5:26)

DISCERN:

  • Do you live to fulfil the desires of your Father (John 5:30)? The human condition disintegrates when we don’t fear God (Romans 3:10-18, Psalm 36). The Pharisees did not see Jesus as their Messiah because they were focussed on external cleanliness; the honour of man and religious tradition (Luke 11:39).
  • Whose approval, praises and DELIGHT do you seek (John 5:41-44)?
  • Do you clearly hear your Father’s voice? Is His word living in you (John 5:37-40)?
“Life in God’s kingdom promises an intimate, conversational relationship with God.” (Willard 2104 p27) To do what our Father is doing, we need to discern His leading. Our instinctive instant response to real-life situations is to check what the Spirit of God is saying and turn first, quite naturally to God’s supernatural intervention. Christ’s purity, compassion, healing, truth, honour enables us to impart life.
  • Do you truly believe that there is no catch, no limit to the goodness of your Father’s intentions or to His power to carry out His promises? (Willard 1998 p352) Obedience and abundance are inseparable aspects of kingdom life. Kingdom obedience is kingdom abundance. (Willard 1998 p343)

DELIGHT in doing the spiritual work the Father has destined you to complete (John 5:17,19-20,24,31,36). A vital part of DESTINY and our call as Jesus’ disciples is that we are to raise apprentices, spiritual sons, disciples of Jesus, who dearly love and constantly DELIGHT in their heavenly Father and what He is doing!

REFLECT: Who are you equipping to take over what you do in the kingdom of God on earth?

DESTINY BLESSING: Open your heart to your Father’s blessing and receive all you need to activate your DESTINY.

(Click here to open the Audio Blessing in a new window).

PRAYER:

  • DELIGHT in your Father and His DESTINY for your life.
Father, I repent of DELIGHTING in the approval of others. I DELIGHT in You! Your desires are wonderful! I trust Your love for me and Your plan for my DESTINY. I trust Your capacity to reveal the true purpose of my life; who You would have me be. Please reveal and deal with anything that is inhibiting me from stepping into my DESTINY. Help me align myself with You so I never act independently of the Father (John 5:19).
  • Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Tender Lord, help me discern what my friends actually believe and lead me, by the Holy Spirit, to pray, inquire, teach, and live in ways through which You can bring kingdom truth and freedom to their minds. I pray they will hear Your voice inviting them to receive Jesus and connect with the body of Christ.
  • Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Lord, I pray my nation will hear the voice of the Son of God and arise with life (John 5:25)! Release Your Holy Spirit on Australia through Your power in us. We declare, it is Your DELIGHT to impart life and set people free from the condemnation and burden of sin. Enable us to fulfil Your will, Your intentions and promises by being carriers of the Good News that people need to see and hear  – and the life they need to receive.

Then Jesus said, “I am light to the world and those who embrace me will experience life-giving light, and they will never walk in darkness.

The “Separated Ones” were immediately offended and said, “You’re just boasting about yourself! Since we only have your word on this, it makes your testimony invalid!”

Jesus responded, “Just because I am the one making these claims doesn’t mean they’re invalid. For I absolutely know who I am, where I’ve come from, and where I’m going. But you ‘Separated Ones’ have no idea about what I’m saying. For you’ve set yourselves up as judges of others based on outward appearances, but I certainly never judge others in that way. For I discern the truth. And I am not alone in my judgments, for my Father and I have the same understanding in all things, and he has sent me to you.

ge 46">

“Isn’t it written in the Law of Moses that the testimony of two men is trustworthy? Then what I say about who I am is true, for I am not alone in my testimony—my Father is the other witness, and we testify together of the truth.”

Then they asked, “Just who is this ‘Father’ of yours? Where is he?”

Jesus answered, “You wouldn’t ask that question if you knew who I am, or my Father. For if you knew me, you would recognize my Father too.” (Jesus taught all these things while standing in the treasure room of the temple. And no one dared to arrest him, for it wasn’t yet his time to surrender to men.)

Jesus walked up the Mount of Olives near the city where he spent the night. Then at dawn Jesus appeared in the temple courts again, and soon all the people gathered around to listen to his words, so he sat down and taught them. Then in the middle of his teaching, the religious scholars and the “Separated Ones” broke through the crowd and brought a woman who had been caught in the act of committing adultery and made her stand in the middle of everyone.

Then they said to Jesus, “Teacher, we caught this woman in the very act of adultery. Doesn’t Moses’ Law command us to stone to death a woman like this? Tell us, what do you say we should do with her?” They were only testing Jesus because they hoped to trap him with his own words and accuse him of breaking the laws of Moses.

But Jesus didn’t answer them. Instead he simply bent down and wrote in the dust with his finger. Angry, they kept insisting that he answer their question, so Jesus stood up and looked at them and said, “Let’s have the man who has never had a sinful desire throw the first stone at her.” And then he bent over again and wrote some more words in the dust.

ge 45">

Upon hearing that, her accusers slowly left the crowd one at a time, beginning with the oldest to the youngest, with a convicted conscience. Until finally, Jesus was left alone with the woman still standing there in front of him. So he stood back up and said to her, “Dear woman, where are your accusers? Is there no one here to condemn you?

Looking around, she replied, “I see no one, Lord.”

Jesus said, “Then I certainly don’t condemn you either. Go, and from now on, be free from a life of sin.
