WEEK 1: Delight In Who God Is.
God wants you to know Him.
DESTINY QUESTION: God, Who Are You?
Knowing who your Father is – is key to trusting His divine plan for the earth, your nation, His Bride and yourself. Pause to listen and DELIGHT in what God says to you about who He is.
Journal what you hear and how this helps define your DESTINY journey.
DELIGHT in God as your Father! DELIGHT in God’s Son “who came from the lap of the Father to explain the Father” (TPT Notes). “In the core of God’s being He is Father, to express who He really is, he needed a Son.” (Hill 2014) Jesus came as our perfect model of sonship!
DELIGHT in your privilege and DESTINY to be a son of God in this world! God still chooses to express Himself as Father to our world through sonship. Our Father’s invitation to sonship is the key message of the gospel of reconciliation. (1 John 3:1, Romans 8:14-21) Our DESTINY is fulfilled through living as sons of God. “Those who embraced Him and took hold of His name were given the authority to become who they really are – the sons of God!” (John 1:12) God knows everything about you and embraces you as His beloved son.
DELIGHT in knowing your Father, the One you can safely love with all your heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30, Psalm 121). God is a Father overflowing with loving kindness, goodness, grace, favour, sweetness, pleasure and DELIGHT. (John 1:14 TPT Notes.) Through each day of our lives, your Father is making Himself known by personally approaching you, seeking to engage with you in your life to bless you. (Willard 1998 p364-5, 419) Our Father, who first loved us (1 John 4:19), draws us with his unfailing kindness (Jeremiah 31:3). “The Lord DELIGHTS in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love.” (Psalm 147:11)
DELIGHT in becoming like your Father. “Our supreme function through all eternity is to reflect God’s highest glory” so God can look into the mirror of our lives and see His own glory shining there. “This is your purpose.” (Tozer 2008 p43,44) “We all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18) We are to “be perfect (whole) as your Father, the one in heaven is perfect and whole.” (Matthew 5:48) John 1:16 says, “Out of His fullness we are fulfilled.” “Our human life is not destroyed by God’s life but is fulfilled in it and it alone. The obviously well-kept secret of the ‘ordinary’ is that it is made to be a receptacle of the divine, a place where the life of God flows. But the divine is not pushy.” (Willard 1998 p21) “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) EXTRA READING: Hill, Creating a Shape for Life To Flow (Click here). DESTINY BLESSING: Pause to DELIGHT in your Father’s grace – His shalom restoration – through this daily blessing from David Tensen of Elijah House
- DELIGHT in your Father and His DESTINY for your life.
Beloved Father, open my eyes to see You are my Daddy! I am your devoted ‘son’. I delight myself in You, Father! I desire to live wholly yielded with a pure heart that honours You in all things. May my heart be captivated by Your heart and mesmerized by Your words over and over again until Your rule is natural in my life. I gaze upon the splendour of Your glory of Jesus, Your living expression (John 1:14)! (Sheets 2014 p71)
- Invite Jesus into your friends’ DESTINY.
Pray for the friends to know God as their loving Father so they can find their life and DESTINY in Jesus Christ.
- Invite Jesus to transform the DESTINY of your region.
Father, in Jesus’ name I declare, Your kingdom come in my region! I seek Your reign in all points in the personal, social and political order of my nation (Isaiah 52:7). Give us overwhelming passion for Your holy presence; spontaneous fervent worship instead of busy religious routines and rituals. Australia, “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker!” (Psalm 95:6)
