Here’s some of the feedback we have received in 2015:

Dear Sue and all concerned,

I just want thank you for these last days.  We have been very impressed and thankful that God has raised you up to serve Him in these politically speaking,  perplexing days.

With our continuing prayer,

Rita Mary, for the Community of Christ the King

Ali Lavis 7:38am Apr 1

The 40 days of delight has been the basis of my Lenten reflection this year, and has truly been a blessing to me. I see Jesus more clearly. I see myself more clearly. I have decided that joy is a much better look than constant self recrimination!

May God richly bless you all, and keep you in the palm of His beautiful hand.

Thank you.

Dear Sue Rod, Karen David and Doug

Congratulations!!!!!!!  You guys have done a fantastic job. The comments below tell the story well. We offer the NDOPF + 40 Days to God as a fragrant offering of love to Him the Father of Lights and the Giver of All Good Gifts.

Much Love

Hi Sue,
What a journey!
What a Saviour!
What a crew of faith filled believers!
This has been the most blessed time of my life and I am grateful to you and David and all your support crew.
The teaching, encouragement, assignments released and blessings of life and love and wisdom will endure forever –Praise Jesus!
Much love and blessings to you of refreshment in the Lord.

Deborah Jenkinson
Grampians Wall.

You asked us to ask Father what were our secret names – Father showed me that in Heaven He has a vast trophy room and all the trophies are behind glass. They are not trophies as we are used to down here –they are the colours assigned to every spirit-filled believer as we run toward the finish line – colours just like a runner would wear at the Stawell Gift. These colours are unique to every runner and are made specifically for individual runners –no two are the same and the colours have significant meaning to every runner.

These are the words I heard –
“I have taken from the trophy room where all the runners colours of My sons and daughters are kept for such a time as this to be claimed .”

The condition to claim our colours was that we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into.

Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with the passion and determination that is assigned to us from Jesus – for the path has already been marked out for us.

Early this morning, I heard these words :-

Beloved’s, watch and pray!
Keep mounted upon the horse you prayer warriors!
Those of you who see –let those who hear know what you see!
And those who hear –let those who see, know what you hear!
And all watch and listen that you may know the days that are fast approaching on this land and her peoples.
For I have summoned you in the Forty Days to taste again and see with fresh eyes that I Am God in the midst of this Nation.
My love for this land and her peoples is unfailing.
My words over this land and her peoples are not to be taken lightly.

Do not be upset when I correct you – the correction is from My love even when it seems harsh.
For in these days you were born for such a time as this, where those who are called by My Name will lead and show a people who have lost their way –the better way – A New and Living Way!
And you are to be a fountain of blessing pouring out onto the lives of others and you will glow even in the darkest of places.
The work is great and I Am calling My people to run –to run with Heaven’s sound and to run with Heaven’s sight.

Church of Australia you lag behind!
Quicken your pace – there is much to happen and so little time.

“Hold on to loyal love and don’t let go, And be faithful to all that you’ve been taught.
Let your life be shaped by Integrity.
With truth written upon your heart.
That’s how you will find favour and understanding with both God and men.
You will gain the reputation of living life well.”

Proverbs 3:3-4 “ The Passion Translation.”

Dear Sue and David,
Your joint effort was so good and I found it truly a delight. To know that God delights in us is something I need to remind myself of often and I found that these 40 days helped me to do this. It was so worthwhile. Thank you so very much.
May God bless you and may you walk in the sunshine of His love.

You have done excellently in this devotional series. Thank you for all your efforts. It’s been a joy and blessing to meditate and especially pray corporately with the wider community of believers in Christ as Lord. I’m sure there will be an ongoing overflow of effect to the whole Church, and the wider Australian community as a result. Looking forward to more of the same in future seasons of waiting on God!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the 40 days of delight to Sue, David and Brian.
If wanting to do the 40 days again, where do we find it on the website, as I can only find the small devotion section (pardon my ineptitude).
I’ve got the PDF, and it has active links to David’s blessings, but no active links to the Passion translation sections of John.
If people do the 40 days in the future, will they have access to the Bible readings as well as the blessings. If so, it would be great for the PDF to have active links to the John readings as well as to David’s blessings.

In addition to its wonderful focus on building our awareness of how precious we are to God building our relationship with him, the 40 Days of Delight was just such a brilliant, effortless, gift of a way to work through the book of John, enjoying it all the way with it seeming so real, using the combination of the Passion translation readings, the daily email readings, and David’s blessing focusing on both, taking us back into thinking on the reading from John as well as the days focus on building a relationship with God.
Bless you all,
Susan G

Hi Sue

David Tensen asked in our final 40 Days of Delight Study today to contact you. I have absolutely enjoyed and delighted in this study so much. I’ve been convicted, I’ve bawled my eyes out some days and cannot thank you enough for this most wonderful study. The content of the study, especially the Bible readings and David’s prayer of blessing every day have drawn me closer to the Lord, I think, than ever before. I have found a particularly challenging key scripture for my life and grown so much. David’s prayers are just so beautiful and the whole study has just been so Spirit-filled … I don’t want it to end and I shall miss it so much. I’ve never met you or David but feel like you have been friends of mine for years!! I long to know our wonderful Saviour and Lord Jesus more and I believe this study has drawn me into a closer walk with Him. Thank you, thank you, thank you. May the Lord bless you and keep you always.

My love and blessings to you and please pass my love and blessings on to David and all the folk who were so instrumental in this wonderful study,

Day 25 14 March

From Judy McCabe, Toowoomba, Queensland
Thank-you for the “40 Days of Delight” daily devotional. From the early hours 14-03-15
My prayer, scripture reading, for the people of this city, this nation, this world is appreciation of the Mystery ( the Gentiles should be fellow heirs).
“ For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you,
according to the riches of His glory,
to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,
that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you,
being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height-
to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge;
that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think,
according to the power that works in us,
to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:14-21

God’s richest blessings to you Sue, your family and to the Body of Christ,
Your spiritual sister in Christ,

Wow! isn’t it amazing that it’s now the 21st day of the prayer and fasting!  It has truly been amazing!

Yesterday I met with a family (in a club) – mother, father (in their 20’s) and their 3 children.  We sang songs to Jesus and about Jesus i.e. Jesus Loves Me.  The children love this song – it’s their favourite!

Then they did some colouring pages of Jesus.  Then they ate and had time to play.

I also spoke to the parents about why we are praying and fasting for the nation of Australia.  We then each took turns in reading the theme scriptures for the 40 Days of Prayer & Fasting.  I encouraged them to seek the Lord and find out His plans, His way of doing things in our lives…. so that we, as a people can really experience and live out the abundant life that the Lord has promised us!

We then ended the fellowship in prayer…. it was a great time!

Blessings, sherry

 Day 20 9 March

Michelle Archbell Thank You Jesus that you always spoke the truth and are still speaking truth today to those that have an ear to hear – Thank You that it is the truth that makes us free!

I did what the daily reading suggested o Day 20 about asking the Holy Spirit for my special name that only God knew. How incredible!!! He told me He saw me as ‘Constance’ and when I looked up all the meanings of the word in the thesaurus, was just blown away and wept. What a loving, affirming and faithful God we serve.  Have just LOVED the 40 days and found the whole thing so uplifting.

Thank you.

40 Days of Delight I am so grateful that these awesome photos from The Son of God movie capture the centrality of Jesus in each story from John in our readings. Today I am especially reminded how grateful I am that Jesus has the power to free me from living trapped in grief, pain and destructive cycles. Jan Morris In think He is VERY hot in this one too lol…but not as hot as when He whispers in my ear.

Email from Stephanie Turvey:

Hi Sue, thanks so much for responding to the query. I am appreciating the process of these devotions that I passed it on to others.

It is the quality of the content, and the opportunity to learn something new about God, Christ and ourselves. So often we make assumptions and hurry through life, and this provides a time to say to God, through our reflection, we have time for Him, and He can come in to our lives and our thinking, and he can change us, our perceptions and our understanding, and we can know Him more, and His Kingdom more.

Well done, for the huge amount of work that has gone into this. Again, there is so much in this that we could take a whole year to process it all.

Thanks so much, to you and the team.

Being a somewhat isolated Christian in part of  WA’s country regions, I thank God and all of you, for the blessing, guidance and enrichment of this double portion of daily DELIGHT.

Hello again Sue! today I feel like one of those who did not come back and say “thank you” for my blessing!

I wanted to, but I kept thinking to come back to you again and confirm everything is tracking well, was a trifling, you are sooooo busy and what I want to do is not important, you know I am again receiving my daily Delight, so just get on with it!

However, today I see clearly how you to need support, love and concern as well. How lonely and isolated it would be, if everyone thought like me!

SO! today i am sending you this note to say “thank you ” again for phoning me on that Sunday morning to check on me personally, I was very blessed, and to hear a little of how things were going for you was special. I am still delighting in my “Delight” daily, glory to God!

I also want you to know I am one of the band of Prayers, praying for you daily.

I thank God for you, may you have His rest, joy, peace and protection in these 40 Days.

In the love of God,

Jill (Williams)

Sue Tinworth

Wow today’s blessing is for those of us who are wrong footed – whose steps are misdirected by others who seek to bend, mend or blend our calling into the way they would have us go. Cooperating with this was how I survived as an abused child. But now I’m a redeemed child of my Father! He holds my hand so when I stumble I do not fall. (Ps 37:24) When I love Your ways, (and walk as one with You, Jesus), I have great peace because nothing can make me stumble. (Ps 119:165)

Sue and David,

These devotions are just SUCH A BLESSING!!!!!!

Thank you so much for the very very very hard work which you have put into them.

I’m sure you’re praying for all of us, but can I ask for you to particularly pray for me the following:

Father, I seek to DELIGHT in You with my whole heart. Purify my motives, Lord, lay them bare and extinguish whatever is not of You. Enable me to resist the pressure of others and stop bowing to mistimed human strategies. Enable me to love You with my whole self and to love others with the wholehearted love with which you have loved me (1 John 4:11-16). I seek only Your glory (John 7:18).

It really resonates with me.

Are you going to keep this 40 Days of Delight available over the year/s for people to use as a Devotion unit. It’s brilliant.

Bless you, wonderful Christians! In doing God’s will, you are making a powerful difference.

Like · Reply · Commented on by Sue Tinworth · March 3 at 6:13am

Dear Sue

Today I was with a friend who said that she was following the Days of Delight and loving it.

She often does not have chance to read the email until late at night.

As the time approaches she is eager to read and then journal.

Because she is often online late at night, she has discovered a double delight, as the next day’s email comes just after midnight.

I know that this woman is going to contact you, to express her delight with the daily guidelines, however I felt the need to encourage you today.

I also have appreciated this year’s format.

Sadly I was a late starter signing up this year, as I struggle with fasting and feel a hypocrite for failing in this area.

Happily I have now worked out a way for me to proceed.

I thought it better to try and fail sometimes, than to do nothing.

Grace and blessings

Robin Madill

Julie Simonds: How many people claim to be Christians yet fail to get their food and drink from Jesus? They choose to go hungry and thirsty because they are too busy or preoccupied with the food and drink of the world. They are not eating or drinking what Jesus has offered them. They are not taking the life of Jesus into their being.

Praise God for your wonderful reminders to delight in the Lord! I find the daily prayer devotions very helpful and a blessing during Lent. Each year different people ask for the contact details and I receive positive feedback from them. keep up the good work!

Sherry Lowah from Alice Springs, NT
When I received your email, I just felt to let you know what a great and wonderful job yous are all doing! It is such an exciting time RIGHT NOW for all of us, our country! I just think, (thanks to you all) its been such a wonderful opportunity for ALL Australians to STAND together and BELIEVE for this great and wonderful nation of ours!!!! I personally have been TRULY BLESSED throughout this whole prayer and fasting time… and it’s just CONFIRMED everything that the Lord has been showing me/speaking to me about….. You are all doing a fantastic job! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

I also saw in the Spirit many, many angels around yous, and an open heaven over you all and immediately got the Scripture Isaiah 54:17 ‘ No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me.’

Hallelujah! How about that?!!! God is soooo good!

Love and many, many blessings to you all,

Hi Carla, When you ask Jesus to be your Saviour – the past is behind you. Because you let him, Jesus will lift you up and walk with you today and everyday into the future. Ask Jesus to take all your struggle and worry, guilt and fear and then remind yourself He has done this. He is with you every moment to comfort and support you. Ask him to speak to you and give you reassuring peace. He loves you. I am so privileged to walk with you! Love Sue

Dear Sue.
The Word is being shared in a most powerful way. I have never experienced such feed back as I have to these 40 days of Delight series. I just spend the night with the Ipswich Awakening prayer people Friday and xxxxx, younger leader, told me how she has been so impacted by the messages. She is finally starting to realize who she is in Christ on a deeper level, and so were some of the others at that meeting. My own intercessors are also giving glowing reports. I will certainly pray for all the people. I think this years NDOPF was the MOST POWERFUL WE HAVE EVER HAD.

Thank you for all you do, may God continue to bless you and keep you strong.

Jill Curry wrote: “When we get our focus right, and look at Jesus’ destiny, to return as King to reign from Jerusalem, we then find our individual, corporate and national destiny in relation to this. What part does God want us to play as individuals, churches or nations to prepare ourselves, His bride and Jerusalem for His coming? The Bible has several verses regarding things that must happen before He will return. Studying those UNTILs is very worthwhile. This understanding has been the rudder to give me clarity for my life, my ministry and for what I see as our nation’s destiny.”

On DAY 11 Sue Tinworth. We ask, “Lord, Who do you say Australia is?” I heard our Lord say, “Australia is My Beloved. Come to Me and I will make you Mine.” Stand in the gap with me to respond on our nation’s behalf. “Lord, we come.” I was prompted to read Isaiah 26 and saw its application to our nation. May we as a nation keep faith and enter into the open gates.

Thank you so much for this wonderful experience during Lent!! It is so encouraging in my walk with the Lord! I look forward to daily prayer time using the daily readings as inspiration for prayer. I’m fasting several days a week too for the first time in ages. May God bless you for your encouragement to the church to get on its knees before our magnificent Lord.

Lord, teach us your perfect Spirit led timing so we can begin to lead stunning lives with non stop surprises. Thank you that the disciples never knew what to expect. Teach us to know the leadings, promptings of your Precious Holy Spirit. Thank you Jesus for being a pure picture of beauty in how you lived your life here on earth. Wonder follows you Lord. May we know that for our lives!

From Sherry Lowah. Hi Sue,

Thanks for your encouragement today…. greatly appreciated!

As I mentioned, we are so excited here in Alice Springs, NT to be able to celebrate with you all by joining with you in the National Day of Prayer & Fasting and the 40 Days of Prayer & Fasting.. it truly has been amazing and already I can sense a real shift in the atmosphere, especially here in Central Australia.

I had the opportunity to speak at my local church, about the National Day of Prayer & Fasting, and how it is important for all Australians, especially Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people to be committed to praying for this great nation of ours Australia, as we are the custodians, caretakers, traditional owners of this country, that the Lord has placed here. I went on to encourage them about our forefathers (Indigenous/Non-Indigenous) fighting for freedom for this country, in all the wars that Australia was involved in, and also the fact that Indigenous Australians have always fought for this country from the very beginning.

I also explained that Australia has a Black history, a White history and a Christian history, and encouraged the congregation to research these histories and celebrate them all, and especially as believers to acknowledge our Christian heritage. There were Indigenous people in the congregation and I once again encouraged them to ‘fight spiritually’ for this country, because we have to protect it like the Garden of Eden – it is our responsibility to be Watchmen/Gatekeepers….. watch what comes in and what goes out.. we are protectors of the land! (By that time everyone in the room was crying… as it was a very powerful, Holy Spirit message!).

The following opportunities have also opened up in Alice:

  • Our prayer group, has been part of the prayer & fasting and have encouraged others to do so as well.
    • Tonight we will open up the prayer for all believers from various denominations/ministries to join with us to pray for Australia.
    • There is potential for a House of Prayer for children aged 3-6yrs, which will encourage children to grow spiritually.
I am very happy and totally blessed that these opportunities are happening! Thankyou Sue and Partners in Prayer Team for this wonderful opportunity to pray for our country! I am beginning to see the promises that the Lord has for Alice Springs/Central Australia and Australia becoming a reality!

Many, many Blessings,

Day 8 Wed 25 Feb

This is just the perfect way to celebrate Lent – and a blessing from God at this point of my life where I am tired of being afraid of my Heavenly Father and just want to rest safely in his loving arms.  God Bless all who have developed and made available the 40 Days of Delight and worked hard to bless Australia with these excellent resources.   I pray that our great nation will give glory to God for all her blessings and turn back to Him.

What destiny does God intend for us as individuals, families, and as a people who belong to Him? Through 40 Days of Delight we believe our hearts will be able to give us the answer.  Perhaps David in one of his psalms gives us a glimpse when he writes “My heart says of You, “Seek His face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.” (Psalm 27:8) May you find great delight each day in beholding the face of God!

A 40 day season of prayer and fasting will commence on 18th February and continue until 29th March inclusive. The season (being organised in Australia but endorsed by Pray for the Nation for New Zealanders too!) is entitled 40 Days of Delight and will feature a study of the Gospel of John, using illustrations from the Son of God, to focus our delight on Jesus and to emphasise the Gospel of John’s message on Destiny through sonship. If, and how, you fast during this time is up to you and God!

A word of encouragement from Marg Auty: The 40 Days in “John” provides a wonderful setting to stop and hear what the Father is saying. As Jesus discloses all that He is and all that the Father is to Him, we will all be encouraged to “remain in Jesus” who “remains” in the Father’s Love.

In The Passion Translation of John and translation notes, and in the prepared daily devotions, the original intent and meaning of words are opened up – providing very helpful language and revelation to see the heart of the Father more clearly for our lives and the lives of others.

As supporters and contributors to past editions of 40 days of Prayer and Fasting for our nation we are truly delighted to recommend this latest edition for 2015.
It is our prayer that as you read, contemplate and pray through these 40 days with the aid of these beautiful and thought provoking devotionals that you will truly find the fullness of your destiny in Jesus, and the truth of who you are as a child of the living God.

Senator Eric Abetz was one of our writers for the 40 Days of Prayer & Fasting in 2014 and has posted this word to us,

“It is a great encouragement to me to know that there are men and women of faith committed to upholding our nation and its leadership in prayer.

The love of God and Country that is displayed in your commitment is truly inspiring and it helps to sustain me as I seek to serve in the public space knowing that you are lending prayerful support to those endeavours.

My thanks and God Bless.”

Once again thank you so much for all you do. I wish 40 Days of Delight every success.

Yours sincerely
Eric Abetz
Leader of the Government in the Senate
Minister for Employment

Delighting ourselves in the Lord is a homecoming call from the Father. He longs for us to be in His Presence and He delights to have our company. This is the very heart of the Tabernacle of David. We look forward to joining others around the nation in this very special season of 40 Days of Delight.

The 40 Days of Delight is nearly written to first complete draft. Try this sample:As we behold our Beloved, love becomes our intention, focus, choice and priority. “If anyone is to love God and have his or her life filled with that love, God in His glorious reality must be brought before the mind and kept there in such a way that the mind takes root and stays fixed there. Love for and DELIGHT in God will be elicited and established as the pervasive orientation of the whole self. Love will fill the mind of the willing soul and progress towards an easy and DELIGHTFUL governance of the whole personality.” (Willard 1998 p355) “You will keep in perfect peace those minds are fixed on You because they trust in You.” (Isaiah 26:3 NIV)

40 Days of Delight Tozer says, The key to prayer is simply praying. As we engage with the God of the universe, our hearts are stretched upwards in adoring wonder and admiration, resulting in spontaneous worship. As the mystics and saints have encouraged, begin practicing the presence of God. This is not merely an exercise in imagination but the ecstatic joy of fellowship. Once you lose yourself in rapturous prayer, you will never go back to prayer by routine.
These great saints were uncontrollably in love with God.
By mystics I simply mean that personal spiritual experience common to the saints of Bible times and well known to multitudes of persons in the post-biblical era. … They experience their faith down in the depths of their sentient being. They exist in a world of spiritual reality. They are quietly, deeply, and sometimes almost ecstatically aware of the presence of God in their own nature and in the world around them.
Their religious experience is something elemental, as old as time, and involves acquaintance with God by union with the eternal Son. It is to know that which passes knowledge.
